  • What's Apple's Vision Pro killer app?

There won't be a killer app because it runs iPadOS apps.  You can mirror a Mac, but it can't run those apps.  No one will buy this, especially in today's economy when most are barely making it paycheck to paycheck.  It starts at $3500, but most would need the expensive prescription lenses.  VR has been around since the early 90s and it still hasn't gained any traction.  Just like 3DTV came and went...no one wanted to wear glasses.  It is socially isolating, even worse with goggles on.  Like Twolf2919 said, going to a live event is the excitement of being there in person and seeing the event live with your own eyes.  Not watching TV with a headset and pretending you are there.  Apple made this device, but there was not a 'problem' to be fixed, like there was with the iPhone and prior 'smartphones'.  Apple has made some products in the past that failed, and Apple corrected those mistakes by killing them off quickly (iPod HiFi and Power Mac G4 Cube, as an example).
“You can mirror a Mac, but it can't run those apps.” Agreed. Running macOS apps could be the “killer app” for me, although I appreciate the specialized training potential as noted in Reply 1 by Andyring. Is that market large enough and will Vision Pro headsets offer sufficient value to that market? I’m cheering for Apple while waiting for further light.

  • Vision Pro to ship with 1TB storage

I am looking to learn the most effective approach for adding storage to the Vision Pros. Maybe the answer is as yet unformed if not unknown.

  • Pegatron plans second iPhone plant in India

On the AppleInsider cover page, I read the headline: “Pegatron plans second iPhone plant in India”. As my eyes journeyed south to William Gallagher’s name, they took a small detour to the left and spied Chinese characters. I suspect that this photograph is of a building in China, not India. :-)

Within the article, I see the picture caption: “seeks to expand…outside of China.” That’s a better fit, but a stock image of the plant in India, a little Devanagari, would still be charming.

Meh. My dSLRs have moved on to XQD and CFexpress Type B.
I was wondering how many professional photographers still use SD cards.
I suspect that like the Sony a7S III and the Sony A1, there will be support for both SD and CFexpress Type A cards in the same slot.

  • Apple working on redesigned iMac, two Mac Pros, cheaper display for 2021

“The second variant, equipped with an Apple Silicon chip, could be about half the size and feature a design that ‘could invoke nostalgia for the Power Mac G4 Cube,’ Bloomberg reported.”

I really liked the Mac Pro 2013. I didn’t purchase one because display size and quality are so significant for me and the iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) came onto the market just prior to my point of purchase, with no prospect on the horizon for a 5K display. I would purchase a full-size Mac Pro, but a more compact one built around Apple silicon would be magnificent!

Apple, please build the Mac Pro 2022 in the USA! (Or possibly 2021, timed for an NAB 2021 release (October)).
