  • Twitter relaunching Verified, with manual authentication checks

If you're referring to the Black Friday deals posts, feel free to not click on them, the same as you shouldn't click on anything else you don't want to read.
Well, you do make that a bit difficult when, "above the fold", there's exactly one article that's not an ad, sponsored ad, or deal advert-story. And when the Latest News section is about 60/40 "deals" vs content.
As Black Friday and Cyber Monday fall behind us, that ratio will change. It's not what I'd call an enormous amount of labor to scroll the page. As Lkrupp has said, and the forum rules are clear about, AppleInsider is not a hobby.

This concludes this avenue of discussion in this thread. If you'd like to continue it in DM, by all means, do so.

Didn't Parler get booted from the app store for inadequate moderation policies? What does it mean when the big twit reverses all those previous moderation decisions, doesn't that effectively end moderation as posted in their TOS, and wouldn't that warrant a ban from the app store until they properly reimplement the policy??

BTW, the number of ads on this site right now on the home page are disgusting.
There are no more ads than normal on the homepage.

If you're referring to the Black Friday deals posts, feel free to not click on them, the same as you shouldn't click on anything else you don't want to read.

10% on top of the usual bulk buy pricing?
Nope, just 10% off. Which is why I'm puzzled about the story.

I respect your arguments and appreciate your perspectives. I guess the only request I would have with articles like this one would be to preface the title with “Opinion: “ because much of what is presented here on AppleInsider, outside of the comments, is informative while this is clearly an opinion piece.

While I disagree with dewme’s libertarian position in general, in fairness to him the “Editorial” header does not appear when I access the article on my iPad using the AI app.
Yep, the AI app has had that problem since… well, as far back as I can remember!  Not even the forum view of the article shows “editorial”. If I go to the AI website on safari, it does. So, @"Mike Wuerthele"  showing that in the screenshot doesn’t really resolve the issue that the AI app does NOT show that it’s an editorial.
    1) I am not a developer, web, app, or otherwise.
    2) It is absolutely labeled an editorial for about 93% of our readers.
    3) It's also very clear from the headline and lede that it is an opinion piece.

This avenue of conversation in the forums has concluded.

  • Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Dock review: A compact port extender for Mac

Really like Satechi in general,  but if this has no hdmi it is no sale for me.

    Exactly,
I ordered one of these without looking too deeply into the specs as I have always had great service from the things they sell, when it arrived I was surprised that it lacked an HDMI port. I connected it to my 14” MBP (ARM) and the device does not show up on my system profile when in clamshell mode nor does it pass audio - and I use a USB audio connection for my speakers.

When I contacted them regarding the lack of an HDMI connector I got a rather snarky and dismissive reply. I would suggest that they listen to their customers better - especially repeat customers. The lack of an HDMII port is a design flaw - at this price point I should not have to buy a third party cable to make it work with a very commonly used display connection.

Sending it back for a refund.

Sending it back is your prerogative, obviously, but a USB-C to HDMI cable is about $8, and should fix your issues, including not showing up in the system profile when the lid is closed.
