  • Microsoft found a macOS exploit that could completely bypass System Integrity Protection

    Pema said:
Microsoft (of DOS & Windows infamy) that has more bugs and malware than there are pebbles on the beach. They are so busy swatting their sheit, when do they have the time to debug others?
Maybe they are reverse-engineering macOS, in order to implement some of the security features while circumventing any relevant patents.
This may surprise you, but Apple, MS, google and others regularly help check each other's systems to help prevent zero-days. This 'us vs them' is mostly in your head.

  • ChatGPT might quit the EU rather than comply with regulations

I think they will leave in the same way that Facebook has left he EU after they threatened to do so...

  • Horror game 'Layers of Fear' launches for Apple Silicon Macs on June 15

Since this is an FPS based on Unreal Engine 5, I'm curious which macs can run this on 4K with excellent quality. So far, the games running on Unreal 5 are not giving  great performance on my Studio Max.

  • No one can agree on what the Apple VR Headset will cost to make

How can an estimate of the cost to build Apple's VR Headset  even be a possibility when it is still only a rumor. Nobody has even seen it! A total waste of time.
Those articles are perfect short-term SEO content. A few weeks from now nobody is talking about the BOM, and these sites got a nice boost.

  • Google doubles down on its 'AI' future during I/O, hitting the buzzword over 100 times

And yet when Apple announced the new Logic and Final Cut Pro for iPad yesterday, with tons of AI both under the hood and clearly visible in their demonstrations/press release, Apple didn't say/print the word AI/Artificial Intelligence ANYWHERE, not even once is it mentioned. Even though AI is certainly present and utilized in every Apple product, it's interesting Apple is staying far away from using the word, and here Evil Google uses it over 100 times in one sitting.
That's because nobody expects Apple to be on the forefront with AI, which they are clearly not. The ML use in Apple products is basic and rudimentary at best. They are playing catchup (if they are even playing) and the new features in Logic and FCP are bringing it closer to what's on the market, but you won't associate Apple with AI anytime soon.

But a techco like google, which has had deepmind and other AI/ML stuff for literal decades should absolutely be on the forefront and setting the trend, and not be upstaged by a startup with far less resources. This is a colossal failure of Sundar Pichai.
