DHS skirting Supreme Court order by using purchased location data
If the private sector can buy the data then why is it news that the government is doing the same thing? No one should be allowed to buy the data, since it’s effectively obtained via deception and/or the ignorance of users.
And if people are breaking the law, and illegal immigrants are breaking the law, then the government should use whatever means they can to ensure the law is followed. Some may not like the consequences, but there are legal and respectful ways people in need can obtain access to the US. Sneaking in the country and getting access to jobs and benefits isn’t respectful when there are other ways to do it.

Apple ordered to pay $838M for infringing Caltech Wi-Fi patents
GeorgeBMac said:But what really strikes me about this is: We have this major propaganda campaign going on accusing China of stealing U.S. IP -- yet it appears that most of the theft occurs by western companies against western companies. In his case, while Apple was an obvious bystander Broadcomm is convicted of doing exactly what so many are outraged that China is supposedly doing. So where is the outrage?

The only propaganda influence going on here is the group of people (who undoubtedly have political motives) trying to pass China off as reasonable. -
'Little America' was a passion project for Apple as well as its producers
Immigrants coming to the US is great! And I don’t think the vast majority of people care that a show has mostly ‘non-white’ leads as long as it’s representational of truth. What is not great is immigrants coming to the US and not learning US history (not the leftist rewrite of it...), language, and culture. What is not great is Americans believing we’re somehow wronging immigrants by expecting them to be Americans. When people go to another country, they should respect that country’s ways. -
Family again asks Apple TV+ movie 'The Banker' not see release
It’s gotten to the point nowadays that people will routinely argue their own perspectives until they’re blue in the face, not having enough discernment to know whether it’s even true or not—a good argument is all that’s needed. We love ourselves so much that our feelings about things are better than truth.
So it’s impossible to have confidence in who has the correct message about this. -
US Attorney General William Barr's push against encryption concerns some FBI officials
It’s hilarious to see people here using this as an opportunity to complain about ‘this administration’ or specific people, seemingly having no memory or awareness that this issue is not limited to any particular political party or persons. Those who truly understand the dangers of a backdoor are the minority.
If it weren’t for Apple the government would have gotten its way long before any of the current politicians were in office.
I suspect most of the complainers here would cave to the government in a heartbeat if they feared their business could suffer.
