Apple Maps, Weather app now shows Crimea as Russian territory
Above_The_Gods said:That's because it is Russian territory, whether or not you people recognize it. Countries are territories that political entities claim and rule by force.
People‘s attitudes nowadays are so uninformed about how countries and territories are decided. And doubly naive to think wars and forced takeovers are a thing of the past. This will always be part of humanity.
Even the current cultural wars in the US are most certainly ‘assisted’ by people wishing to make the US crumble. Many in our country don’t see ‘social justice’ being exploited well beyond reason and intelligence for the sole purpose of destroying our culture. It’s being used as a weapon against us, and at least half of the country is too gullible to notice. -
Editorial: Steve Jobs shared secrets of Apple's iPad but nobody listened
philboogie said:At the time I preferred the iPad instead of firing up my desktop or laptop. Because the iPad was 'instant-on'. But with todays laptops with SSD instead of a slow HDD I don't use the iPad anymore. A MacBook is so much easier because I don't have to hold it up. That could be a reason for the declining or should I say plateauing in iPad sales. -
Qualcomm hints 5G iPhone coming in 2020, analysts say
cropr said:Don't take your local situation for the rest the world. In some countries 5G has really taken off. In these countries there will be a lot of 5G phones sold in the upcoming Christmas period.
This isn’t like moving from 3G to LTE. LTE speeds satisfy 99.9% of users needs, as it brings mobile internet more inline with home broadband. There is currently nothing available where 5G has real benefit for the vast majority of users.Until there is function to satisfy the speeds, there is no purpose for 5G. Right now it’s little more than ‘just because we can’. 5G phones being sold are, at best, an investment in the future. -
Apple contributing $2.5 billion to fight housing shortage in California
That’s really great and shows the kind of company Apple is, and incidentally the is only way that helping others in need can effectively work long term (rather than forced ‘generosity’ in the form of taxation). Although I can’t help but feel like this approach will only amount to temporary relief from poor government and policies. -

Personally, when I saw the trailer for ‘See’ I knew I wouldn’t be able to have respect for Apple’s efforts and so I haven’t considered their service. I don’t really care how much they spend on their shows.
’See’ appears to not-so-subtly present the idea that the youth can finally see as where the established order can’t. That is dangerous and irresponsible for our current society, one where the youth is grossly undereducated and misled about American government and history. How can the younger generation have any clue about where to lead the nation when they have little idea and little respect for the circumstances that brought about America? If anything they are destine to repeat history out of ignorance, being so out of touch with the very real and very repeatable past.
