Apple's headset success depends on ecosystem integration
I don’t understand how, after thousands of articles and rumors about these goggles, so many people are still completely clueless to the concept of an expensive developer model preceding the affordable consumer model. No, Apple will not sell a great quantity of a brand new device that is 3x more than its competition. They don’t plan to. They aren’t trying to. They probably don’t even want to. That will all come later. Then, there are the narcissists. Those who think these will fail just because they can’t find a use case for them, or because they can’t afford the first generation model that isn’t even intended for them, or because they are afraid of how they’ll look to others. How about waiting until the things actually fucking exist before unilaterally dismissing them? -
Apple adds 'realityproOS' to list of potential VR headset trademarks
Synapcis said:Why does this sight keep using a render of snorkelling goggles to show “a render of potiential Apple headset?” This was the first image ever posted about the upcoming headset, years ago and it is ridiculous. If apple releases a headset like this, fish everywhere will be using VR! -
No one can agree on what the Apple VR Headset will cost to make

I am only interested in how much it will cost to buy one and the level of functionality it will provide. So far none of the VR/AR product out there provide any real benefit for the “average user”. We will see how Apple does with this.
I don't want a headset. I want an Airport. If Apple announced a comparable mesh system with a built in VPN, I'd pay $1000 and sign up for a $50/yr VPN from them. -
Microsoft & Activision Blizzard merger is a go with conditions, says EU regulators
Once this acquisition is completed, I expect a feeding frenzy will begin with many of the larger or more prestigious studios getting scooped up in short order. With streaming services facing stagnant subscriber growth across the board, gaming is the next logical place for them to turn as they look to bolster their bundled offerings and make it harder for people to leave. And obviously, raise prices. -
Apple bracing for potential mixed reality headset production issues
quakerotis said:This story, and all stories like it, as "reported" by the rumour mill are what comes out of the back end of a horse.
Reporting on them is equally as lazy and indolent.
This isn't reporting or news. This is Middle School Hall locker conversation.
