Editorial: Following Fold fiasco, Samsung fields a flexible flip-phone

I think Samsung is onto something and I appreciate their R&D efforts in this field. -
HBO Max to take on Apple TV+ in May 2020 [u]
curtis hannah said:Can someone explain the difference between HBO Now and HBO Max? Is it going to have more exclusive content that HBO Go/Tv channel won't have?
They keep complicating their crap. Won't doubt it if we see an HBO+ next or HBO TV NOW. -
Apple should adopt these Pixel 4 features for iPhone 12

But using "transcribing" is kind of an odd choice for your argument - since that doesn't even require Siri. The on-screen keyboard lets you dictate using voice and it's automatically transcribed into whatever app you're running.

Oh Googly is such a safe company!
Now they're putting a greater emphasis on privacy too (long-overdue IMO) to go along with the security aspect. The transcription service for instance no longer sends your voice recordings to Google which should be a breath of fresh air for those concerned about cloud stuff and privacy. The Google keyboard uses federated learning so that what you type is not associated with you personally. Then there's the Privacy Sandbox initiative, encrypted DNS, automatic deletion of data on a set time frame determined by the user, even wider roll-out of on-device processing where the data does not leave your phone....
Things are getting better, and Apple placing such a huge emphasis on it really helps push Google to do the right thing.

"In reality, these auto-delete tools accomplish little for users, even as they generate positive PR for Google. Experts say that by the time three months rolls around, Google has already extracted nearly all the potential value from users’ data, and from an advertising standpoint, data becomes practically worthless when it’s more than a few months old.
“Anything up to one month is extremely valuable,” says David Dweck, the head of paid search at digital ad firm WPromote. “Anything beyond one month, we probably weren’t going to target you anyway.” […]"
...lip service. Let me know when you can have it not collect it in the first place.
Wouldn't doubt it if this "does not send recordings" feature is compromised as usual.
"Do not track" for Google means only Google can see it. -

I always wondered how many GBs it would take to have common knowledge stored on device. Or how about just Wolfram Alpha and Wikipedia?gatorguy said:tjwolf said:I completely agree that Siri should not require internet for basic things - how many times have I been hiking in the woods and tried to increase/decrease volume for my AirPods or change songs in my local library only to have Siri tell me it can't do that because there's no internet connection :-(
