  • Apple's ad agency recommends a stop to Twitter campaigns

My company tripled the Twitter marketing budget . We care about getting more customers, not politics.

What's your company, Komrade, so I know where to not spend my money?

  • Plugin now required to use most Pantone Colors in Adobe products

    melgross said:
Greedy executives from Pantone company. Adobe needs to create their own color swatches and ditch these blood sucking leeches.
    No different than Apple.
    Use Windows.
Why?  What does Windows have to do with Apple, who makes huge profits selling iPhones, iPads and Macs.  Apple doesn't sell their OS.

I think the point @mikethemartian was making was that everyone stands behind Apple when it comes to huge profits on hardware and services and their controversial 30% App Store "fee", but when Pantone wants to get paid for their product, they're "blood sucking leeches"?

  • Apple & Spotify now fighting over audio books

    lkrupp said:
Fine, then Apple should be allowed to charge Spotify and arm and a leg for the privilege of having its app in the App Store.
Here we go.  First post and already got a "It's Apple's playground.  Don't like it, go play in the Android sandbox" defense.

Apple would have to charge every developer "an arm and a leg" for that privilege then.  It would be the demise of the App Store.

  • Apple chose a bad year to launch expensive iPads that aren't compelling

Remember when AppleInsider used to constantly complain about Apple's laptops not getting the Intel chip refreshes as fast as Windows laptops? Now a chip refresh is bad.
Did you even read the article?  The point is, very minimal improvements with a massive price increase.  PRICE INCREASE, not "chip refresh".

  • Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Dock review: A compact port extender for Mac

    JP234 said:
So give up a Thunderbolt port on your Mac to get more thunderbolt ports? You had two, now you have three. And some USB ports, Ethernet, and an SD port.

I got a dock with HDMI,  Ethernet, SD, micro-SD, (2) USB 3.0 for $16.19 on Amazon.

Is this one really worth $300? Not to me. Maybe you.
Depends on what Mac you connect it to.  Worst case, the MBP 13 M1 has 2 TB ports.  One used for this dock, leaves me with 1 on the MBP and 3 on the dock.  4 Total by my count.  And it's not just "some USB" ports, they are 10Gbps each.  So yes -- if you just need some generic ports to plug in a mouse or a thumb drive, a $20 dock is fine

For those who need more TB4 ports and high-speed USB 3.2 ports plus Ethernet, this is good.  Expensive, but good.  There isn't much else out there like this.

Like M68000 said -- no HDMI is a big bummer.
