  • It wasn't a mistake -- Apple betas are now free

We can't recommend you install the new developer beta.  LOL Because we did and we want to make a lot of videos and sell lots of ads!  Seriously, I've been downloading developer betas on all of my devices for as long as they have offered them.  I used to get them in shady ways, but I've gotten older so I don't mind tossing Apple $99 for the license, although I will be moving to the free tier!  These betas are almost as good as the real thing.  The real thing will still have bugs and oddities.  I used to access work via Windows through Parallels.  I don't use Parallels anymore so I can't say how it works now, but they used to be notorious for breaking after every new update.  I'd tell myself don't update until you know Parallels will work.  LOL but I kind of like the challenge of looking for fixes so I'd upgrade and of course it would break.  It would be a mad dash to find a solution before I had to be back at work.

Download the betas and live a little.
I used to pay $500 for access to the developer account specifically for the betas, but you also got an Apple t-shirt and discs in the mail when you signed up. This was back when they charged you $129 for the major macOS update that came out every 2–3 years. Oh how things have changed for the better in 2 decades.

Also, a shout-out to AppleInsider. Their render more or less nailed the look of this device!
I had been thinking about that, too. Despite all the people calling it ski or SCUBA googles, it was fairly spot on in the shape of the front.

Remember folks, this is just an early prototype of the eventual "Apple iGlasses". This one built for programmers and developers to get their hands on something that works before they roll out the final product, which will look more like a pair of Ray-Ban's and you will wear all day!  Maybe in five or six years.
    1) They've moved away from i-naming scheme.
    2) We are not 5 or 6 years away from getting an M-series chip (or any of the other HW) into something the size and weight of a pay of Ray-Bans.
In 1963 we were not 5-6 years away from landing on the moon.
Of course we were. Untess you're a conspiracy theorist, we landed there in 1969.

In 2017 we were not 5-6 from this device or a Mac Pro like they showed yesterday.
Clearly we were, and it was obvious since we already had the same SoC in a much smaller Mac Studio. All they did was effectively get PCIe slots in the chassis from the previous Mac Pro.

Or a camera like what it on the iPhone 14.
Sure it was as it's just a iteration.

Come to think about it, Apple does still seem to see a lot of iMacs, iPhones, and iCloud services these days.
Huh? Was that sentence suppose to say something?

Outside of your beyond ridiculous comparisons the bottom line is that your suggestions that VR goggles could be the size and weight of a pair of Ray-Bans in half a decade without anything to back up that projection is not just silly, but downright stupid. These aren't stand-alone AR glasses like Google Glass, but offer a fully immersive VR experience. Even if the tech could reasonably shrink to fit everything inside of a pair of lightweight sunglasses in a handful of years (again, it can't), you're still missing the fundamental issue with making a VR headset that is open around the sides, top and bottom as is the case with a pair of Ray-Bans.

  • Apple Vision Pro $3,499 mixed-reality headset launches at WWDC after years of rumors

Did they mention how you are supposed to connect it to a computer to play VR games with it? I didn’t see mention of an additional cable or anything. Can it be plugged into a Windows machine as well? If not, it’s pretty useless for gaming.  If the only games you can play on it are the ones you can download from the VR App Store, I don’t see how this is going to work as anything but an executive toy.  No one is going to spend that much money to play Apple Arcade games.

Wish I could see everyone’s comments on the iPhone in 2007.

This is unlike anything else on the market.

Like I said in a post about this a few weeks ago on here: no one will care. It's quite uninspiring for most people. Just another take on AR/VR. Some people will buy it, most likely the tech head that buys anything new that comes out. Nobody is going to be queuing up for this! It's no iPhone or iPad.
You claim "no one" will care which you think follow up with a change to "most people" instead of all. You can also say "most people" don't have an iPhone as that's also accurate, but it sure brings in a low of revenue and profit for Apple. If yuo recall the iPod announcement, people in the audience scratching their head wondering what the hell Jobs was thinking.

My advice to you is to not bet against Apple simply because a product isn't for you.
