  • Files iPadOS 26 vs iPadOS 18: Refinements & speed improvements make Files actually usable

I’m very concerned about readability. Just look at these screenshots. Everything is white, bright white, without any clear separation through the use of background colors. So far I find Liquid Glass an inconsistent mess, in comparison to what I considered a very refined UX/UI. They butchered it.
I'm currently not loving it. I'm running macOS 26 and iOS 26. So far it all seems stable and there are some new additions I like (like the dedicated Phone app), but I can't say I like the UI. In macOS toggle buttons look like they're not toggle-able (is that a word?) when they are, and CarPlay, when you're in an app, has clear side-row icons that are near invisible because automobile displays aren't as modern as smartphone displays and I lost a row of icons on the CarPlay Home Screens in one vehicle when there was already ample spacing.

None of this is a dealbreakers, but it's not a step forward, IMO.

  • Trump Mobile's made-in-US iPhone 17 competitor is really made in China

The point is, that some on this forum have been attacking the president for @lying” about the phone, when in fact, up to this point? He’s said nothing. That is a false claim.
    Again:

“Trump Mobile is also excited to announce it will release the “T1 Phone” in August. It is a sleek, gold smartphone engineered for performance and proudly designed and built in the United States”

That is a lie. It’s on Trump.com — which, I must assume, is the current president’s commercial website.
You said president Trump made that quote. He did not. Period.

That is the website of the trump organization which was handed off to his kids years ago.

Ah, I wasn’t aware. Yep, he still owns it, but his kids are running it since 2017. Okay. Fair point.
That's like a mob boss claiming he didn't murder anyone even though his goons were caught redhanded. The notion that Trump is licensing his name to a sham product but claiming he knows nothing about it either means he's lying or he's even more incompetent than he already presents himself.

  • Five ways macOS Tahoe makes you radically more productive

Number 5 is odd since I seem to have always been able to use my M1Pro MacBook Pro to answer my phone.
Why are people in denial about this feature and dislike it when I point out it's an existing feature!?

To make a phone call via your Mac using your iPhone's cellular connection, follow these steps:

    1. Ensure Prerequisites:
      • Your Mac and iPhone must be signed in to the same Apple ID for iCloud and FaceTime.
      • Both devices should have Wi-Fi enabled and be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

      • Your iPhone must be nearby.

    2. Enable Calls on Other Devices on iPhone:

      • On your iPhone, go to Settings > Phone > Calls on Other Devices.

      • Turn on Allow Calls on Other Devices.

      • Enable the switch for your Mac.

    3. Enable Calls from iPhone on Mac:

      • Open the FaceTime app on your Mac.

      • From the menu bar, select FaceTime > Preferences (or Settings).

      • Check the box for Calls from iPhone.

    4. Make a Call:

      • You can make calls directly from the FaceTime app by entering a phone number and clicking the audio call button.

      • Alternatively, click on phone numbers in apps like Contacts, Calendar, or Safari to initiate a call.

      • You can also use Spotlight search: press Command + Space, type the phone number or contact name, hover over the number, and click the phone icon to call.

    5. Receive Calls:

      • When your iPhone receives a call, a notification will appear on your Mac. You can answer, send to voicemail, or respond with a message from there.

This setup allows you to make and receive calls on your Mac using your iPhone's cellular service without needing to pick up your phone, and you can use your Mac's audio devices for the call

It's a dedicated app now and it's long overdue. I get that when the feature came out over a decade ago it was easy enough to connect to the FaceTime app when on the same local network, but it really should've been changed to its own Phone app a long time ago.

The only downside I've encountered with this change is taht I can no longer take or make a call on my Mac and then switch to my iPhone mid-call. I hope this changes.

I bet Trump Mobile will fold before the iPhone Fold comes out.

  • Trump Mobile's made-in-US iPhone 17 competitor is really made in China

Trump Mobile X account doesn't mention anything about hardware.

First post is "bring your own phone"

Maybe they gave up on that plan - it would look pretty bad to have a cheap Chinese made phone the "US made" flagship lol.

As for creating your own manufacturing pipeline, which Apple apparently can't do - Space X did it. Apple could if they had to, but they just don't want to; it's a lot of work, no doubt, and they'd leave profits on the table also... I am not saying it's easy. But if SpaceX can do it to make heat shield tiles then so can Apple, a $3Tn company.

Apple has enough money on hands to build 10 factories making everything going into the iPhone, except screens chips. Heck they have enough to build a chip factory too.

They just don't want to. It would cost them profits for years.
How the fuck are heat shield tiles the same as every component in an iPhone? I've seen some dumb comparisons before, but JFC.
