  • UK iPhone privacy lawsuit seeks up to $4.29B from Google

Excellent 60 minutes article on Google last night.  Amazing the power and monopoly this company has.  The EU is the only government with balls going after them.  They're too intrenched in US politics for anyone here even questioning their tactics better yet actually doing something about it.
That was a good segment on 60 Minutes.
Google may not be a monopoly, but it sure needs some regulation.
The only thing I use Google for is a couple of trash email accounts I use to collect spam.

Florida:  Second biggest collection of trash in the world, after the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
Come on now, there are a lot of good, honest, hard-working folks in Florida. Of course not as many as there used to be... If they had finished the Cross Florida Barge Canal, the bad part may have broken off by now - kinda like CA and San Andreas should.

  • James Comey tears into Apple, Silicon Valley over encryption policies in new book

As you can see in this article, once a new Federal agency or department is established, it’s nearly impossible to get rid of it. Government is the definition of “feature creep”:  https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/fbi-founded

That’s reason enough to cut budgets, fire people and remain ever vigilant against those who continually push for more, more, more government.
Many federal agencies have been eliminated over the years:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Defunct_agencies_of_the_United_States_government

If you take a look at the vast majority of these "defunct" agencies, they are defunct in name only.  Their power, regulations and personnel have been rolled into another agency with a different name - and in most cases, expanded.

  • Apple memo reveals 29 leakers caught last year, urges staff to stop leaking confidential i...

Jail time? Nice to know Apple think of this the same way they do treason.

In all honesty, the criminal charges stuff in this leads me to question my purchasing decisions. That takes this “leak” stuff from absurd to downright morally bankrupt.

Personally, I hate the leaks. I would prefer a filter on this site which specified “No rumors”. I don’t want to read or hear it, I want a bit of surprise. But there is no way to get fast, breaking actual Apple News in one location without getting an inundation of rumors and gossip. Treating this as a criminal issue with jailtime consequences where the leaking is not for corporate espionage, though? Come on, that’s below the belt, and completely morally bankrupt. Fire them, sure. Their record is tarnished in the industry. But jailtime makes me ask “do I really want to support this company?”
Obviously you haven't been around the corporate block.  Almost every company that generates a product uses NDA's & CA's (non-disclosure agreement & confidentiality agreement)  And if you think that is bad, try the military - used to be you could be shot.. court martialed at the least.  Not a problem in my book.

Operations with R&D secrets need the ability to keep their secrets.
