  • Samsung rumored offering foldable display samples to Apple for future iPhones

So, Samsung has current capacity to build 2.4 million flexible screens. Well, they’ll need to keep 10 of those for the Folds that they’ll sell. So, seems that need a buyer for those other 2,399,990 screens they can produce.

    I hope it’s a hard pass on Apple’s part.

  • How to trace an image with your Apple Pencil on the iPad Pro -- and when not to

Or, you can use your iphone (or ipad) to take a pic of the item you want to trace and import it into your drawing program and use it as a template within the app, assuming the app you're using allows importing images and accommodates multiple layers (one for the pic you're tracing, one for your drawing layer.)
This is the smart way to accomplish tracing - so many benefits: no need to crank the brightness, you can zoom in so your tracing can be as detailed as you want, easier to see what has been traced and what remains...to name just a few

  • Mac Pro will be 'easy-to-upgrade,' debut in 2019 alongside 31.6-inch Apple 6K display

Would be nice if it had: wireless charging at the base for the phones, trudepth camera for login, and preferably some kind of wired audio out port. (The mac pro's port is too far away.)
I would really like to have a wireless charging mat integrated nicely in the display stand...Apple wouldn’t build this in as it would add cost that not all would want or benefit from - but if would be great if they would incorporate an edge connector on the stand’s base (ala the edge connector on iPad Pros for keyboards,etc.). Then Apple or 3rd party manufactures could make a charging mat or some accessory dock, etc. to integrate nicely on top of the displays base.  Might be considered too complicated to manufacture since all the bases I’ve ever seen are metal/plastic clip ones. But if anyone is up to the task, it would be Apple. Would be a nice way to eliminate the need for one more power cable allowing one’s workspace to be a bit more tidy.

Just goes to show, most people are sheep, i listen to music today and do not pay over and over again, i listen to the radio with some ads which i tune out, or i listen to my private collection which I paid once and can listen to it as many times as I want. But people got suckered into paying to listen and keep shelling out money each month. In this generation subscription models, people will be shelling out $1000's of each year and have nothing to show for it.
While my sentiments lean your way as far as not “renting” music (and many other things), my good friend is the polar opposite - and I’ve come to understand that for him it’s all about convenience.  For him, he doesn’t need to concern himself with doing any library curation or whatnot...it’s just there when he needs it.  Since I have a curator’s mindset the need for convenience has no sway for me.  Not sure if that necessarily means he’s one of the sheeple or not...seems a bit harsh.

But I am concerned that so many business models are predicated on the recurring subscription model only because it seems that ownership is being phased out and all the masses will have left is a stack of recurring bills and “nothing to show for it”. I certainly don’t want to feed that future.

NB - obviously there are loads of good examples of where renting instead of owning makes sense. Just saying the sentiment these days seems to me to push more people into paying over and over again.

  • Facebook issues memo on Apple Enterprise Certificate fiasco as employees vent frustration

This is the least of the punishments Apple should be inflicting on FB for this serious breach.

Next step needs to be Zuckerberg having to come publicly to Apple HQ with hat in hand to beg for a lifting of the certificate embargo (with an action plan for reforms and new conditions on their agreement).
At which point, after hearing £uckerberg’s lame ‘mea culpa’, Tim Cook would do a Steve Job throwback - “we have one more thing” and he’d whip out the all new Apple BFG. Queue Tony Montana “Say Hello to my little friend!” and POW. End scene.
