  • Always-on 'iPhone 13' display could show persistent clock and battery icons

What is the effective lifespan of oled pixels these days? IDK, but I’d be a bit concerned if this means that portions of my phone display will age more rapidly and diminish the useful life if the phone.

  • Apple could be Tesla's biggest threat, analyst says

I don’t know if it matters or not that Apple is no longer a computer company but more of a lifestyle company, I think the headline is backwards. I think Apple may be one of Tesla’s biggest competitors.  As Elon and team continue to build out proprietary systems to support their efforts, be it for solar, space or EV, it won’t be too long before they can produce gadgets that muscle in on phone, tablet, wearable and pc territory - all integrated under the Tesla umbrella. For folks who have already made the big purchase of a car or solar system, it would be an easy sale for some relatively cheap personal electronics.

  • Fake App Store reviews spark developer outrage, highlighting need for enforcement

    sbdude said:
I can see his frustration, but he's not exacting pulling down 5 stars himself. His latest rating is a 3.4 with 709 reviews, and all the one-stars appear legitimate and have legitimate complaints, and he's responded to all the ones I saw. Perhaps if he improved his own app, achieving higher ratings, he wouldn't have to worry about competitors poaching his purchases.
He’s not talking about competition- he’s talking about scammers - and people stealing his promotional material and calling it their own.  The scam apps and reviews have similarly blunted my interest in perusing the App Store.

  • New Firefox 84.0 update adds native Apple Silicon support

    After updating to firefox 84.0, I get in about:support at the User Agent line — ... „Intel Mac OS X 11.1“ ...
I am not so sure, firefox already uploaded the Apple Silicon version yet...
That may be the result of just “ticking the box and recompiling”.

Just updated my Intel install of Firefox and ran lipo -i on the binary. Shows that it includes x86_64 and arm64.

    it’s in there.

Just discovered this last night while trying to order a Synology RS820 NAS and 4 8TB drives. B&H Photo won the gig instead and I got my 3% (which amounts to cutting my sales tax in half). They already have the g’vmt hassling them, why go after each other?
    That’s awesome!

When is it expected to arrive and what’s your address?
