Apple Watch Series 11: What's expected to arrive this fall
How is it that some people believe every iteration of an Apple product, particularly one that gets a new model every year, must be some groundbreaking, earth-shattering upgrade. Fkg idiots, especially when the Watch has reached the level of maturity it has. Most upgrades will only be incremental to the previous generation.
I got an S10. My Watch before that was an Ultra. Before that was an S8. I don't expect to upgrade every year because I pay attention to what Apple is doing. The Ultra is a different Watch than the S8, and the S10 is a different Watch than both of them. The Ultra 2 isn't on my radar nor is the S11. But for someone who doesn't have an Ultra or a Watch newer than an 8 or 9, the 11 could easily be a notable improvement. The only thing that would induce me to get an S11 would be if it were going to be round like a Galaxy. Maybe the S12 or 13 will have a significantly faster processor, more storage, or brighter screen or be round, and I'll get one. Or not.
My Ultra, S8 and a couple of other Watches have the SPO2 sensor and I use it on occasion. The lack of that functionality didn't stop me from getting the S10 because a) it still has the sensor and b) its functionality can be restored with a software upgrade, if the legal battle is ever settled. Not the dealbreaker for me that it seems to be for others. -
Tom Hanks 'Greyhound' sequel sails into D-Day & the Pacific
I was disappointed in Masters of the Air. It just wasn't gripping enough. It was ok, as I watched it twice. But I expected more. I enjoyed Greyhound. It had energy and good pacing. It would have been more enjoyable on the big screen, but Hanks didn't have Cruise's pull with the studio.
Band of Brothers was awesome on a 50" screen, my first viewing. Then saw it again on a newer 80" screen with In Motion or similar motion smoothing in effect. There were some occasional artifacts compared to if it had been shot at 60fps. I quickly got used to it and it imparted a much better realism than watching it 'straight' at 24fps. Scenes that included panning were much more effective than the straight, choppy 24fps.
Sequels are always a worry for me since they're more often than not lacking compared to the original. There are exceptions. The key word is exceptions. Maverick was one. A monster success. I look forward to this one with cautious optimism.
I hope this sequel is as good as Greyhound. That'll make me happy. -
Lighter Apple Vision Pro expected by early 2026
bohler said:The AVP is a really strange device. It is by far the best Apple device I ever posessed and when I use it I wear it for 3-4 hours straight….but I use it maybe 2 or 3 times a week only. It is always a treat , almost like a reward .
Then I'm heartened by posts like the above from an actual owner who has time on the clock with it. I stumbled on a r/AVP with more actual owners with time on the clock with a lot of good info. There were a couple of ex-owners who weren't happy, but it was great to read about how its used, hints and kinks, etc.
I don't understand the haters. Maybe they were abused children I don't know. I realize it's not everyone's cuppa but FFS, why hate?
My main reason for not waiting (yet still on the fence) is that subsequent iterations may not have as high quality displays in order to reduce the price. Moving to Ti will be more expensive I'd think. Then there is the uncertainty of the tariff situation.
My time would be much the same as bohler's, 3-4 hours straight, maybe 3 times a week maybe more. I really need to bust a move. -
Apple Watch arrived on buyers' wrists 10 years ago
I've just received my S10 Watch so you all have me to thank for the S11 later this year.
My first Apple Watch was the Apple Watch in Stainless. I still have it but it needs a battery and I don't think is possible to get it replaced anymore. But it's a thing of beauty. Yes there was a lot of disappointment with the announcement because people wanted what they wanted and weren't capable of what Apple had accomplished. It was a success for me because I didn't have to take my phone out of my pocket to see a message or who was calling. Everything else was cake.
I appreciate that this article lays out a timeline. Cook deserves credit for bring the Watch to market, but he didn't conceive of the idea like many people claim. I had one of the Nano Wrist holders and waited for a Watch.
My S10 doesn't have SPO2 functionality at the moment. What so many people don't know is that function is disabled by software. Every Watch since its removal is still capable of getting it enabled whenever this is resolved. When that happens a software update will bring that back.
I got the S10 because it was on a good sale approximately $135 off. Unless the S11 has some super killer feature I should be fine.
I want Apple to consider more of a lean towards fashion and not just a health device. The rectangular shape is now stodgy but the S10 freshens it a tiny bit. Adding a model or two to the lineup would be a nice change. There's the Ultra which I have, and the Ultra 2. Not enough difference there to make me upgrade. I really want a round Watch but I don't think that will happen. It should. Choice is good.

Tariffs not stopping Americans from wanting new iPhones with Apple Intelligence
Referring only to the headline and not the article's content, wait until it's time to pay for that shiny new phone. Then we'll see how many people want it.
Without knowing what kind of hit the price will take, Now With Extra Tariffs! will be dealbreaker for many. When it's time to plunk down the plastic or Ti, it gets really real. I expect it will do fine just that more than a few minds will change if the tag goes north.
