iOS 26 vs iOS 18: Is Apple's 'Liquid Glass' a true redesign?
Update or redesign, it's just semantics for me. Call it what you will, I love the look. There a a lot more to this update/redesign that most here are giving in credit for.
I liked someone referring to the "iickable" aspect as well as the skeuomorphism. I'd like to see it make at least something of a comeback. I didn't like the flat look at all. It looks like zero thought goes into making any icon.
There is some functionality I'll use, some I won't. Not a power user. But I can't wait for on all devices.
I don't like the thick font on the middle and right. Apple's thinner fonts always seem much nicer much cleaner. Maybe it can be adjusted. But I'm lovin' the look. I'll watch the WWDC video a few more times before the OS armada ships.

iPad helped save concert pianist's career by beating stage fright
I can understand tradition and how having sheet music or in this case an iPad might annoy some purists, particularly if they're pianists and especially those who feel qualified to criticize even if they don't play.
As I can't play any musical instrument I'm in awe of those who can. I enjoy listening to (most) music created by others, live or studio. Those who can, do; those who can't, listen. I'm not one to put in the time and effort to learn an instrument let alone possessing any ability to play one.
I'm really happy that someone who loves playing and performing is able to do so with much less anxiety. Music has charms to soothe the savage breast. To be able to play is a gift, to share, a joy. I'm delighted such people exist.

Apple Savings cuts its interest rate again, this time to 3.65%
sbdude said:quakerotis said:when savings interest rates decline, it is a sign that the economy is in decline.
T**** (the convicted felon and sexual predator)®™ sure can screw things up easily.
It's his plan.grandact73 said:Apple Savings has never since its inception had a competitive rate. Don't understand why anyone ever used it in the first place.
Millions of hard working people use savings accounts for — savings. They don't have the acumen, stomach, or budget for higher paying investing. So many banks don't pay even 1% interest on savings even when the balance is very high. But they're quick to try to steer customers to money market accounts with could pay up to 5x the current savings rate. 5 fucking times! Wow. A whopping <5%. With all the security of your savings account. "Well no there is some risk and no guarantee of profit." Oh really.
So no, 3.65% isn't great. It isn't even good. Yet it's better than most banks offer. Even with a ton of money in a bank savings account I doubt many such a customer would make enough interest to require reporting. Though that could change.sunman42 said:I'm surprised that the words "Goldman Sachs" didn't appear in the lede — or anywhere else in the article. You do know it's they, and not Apple, who sets the interest rates, right?
The article did mention the Federal Reserve and the rate cut happening to Apple's competition as well, not that the competition was lowering its rates but that it was happening to them. -
'The Morning Show' returns in fall 2025 -- here's when to watch
Djacobs said:Oh great, another season of left-wing propaganda disguised as a tv show. Couldn't stand to finish season 3, I want to be entertained, not consistently feel berated because my views don't match those of the producers/writers.
We can't as the same for right-wing lies, distortions, half-truths spouted daily, disguised as fact. We know it's not TV, it's actually happening to us and being championed by the corrupt and ignorant, and it's not mere propaganda.
Yes, scripted fiction TV shows often have content that directly relates to our environment to illuminate and illustrate what is happing in the really happening in the real world. What's happening now can't just be turned off. Real people are paying a significant price for the authoritarian take over of Democracy. It really happened, it's really happening, and sometimes scripted content will address what legacy media does and is not.
The Right Wing is trying to trample free speech as defined in the First Amendment. Fictional TV content can help some see the parallels with actual current political machinations.
So watch something else and free yourself from the oppression heaped upon you by a fictional TV show. And be thankful that its 'left-wing propaganda' is not at all based on current political reality. -
Apple rumored to release iOS 26 at WWDC, instead of iOS 19
