  • Apple fights back against shareholders who want to end DEI hiring

You can thank Tim Cook’s “donation” to the inauguration for shareholders being extra emboldened.
More likely — you can thank Cook’s personal donation for giving Apple the space to stick with their DEI policy.
This. Cook took the bullet to keep Apple as unrestricted as possible, and not saddle the company with the complicity of supporting Trump. Nobody seems to understand this. Or I missed one or two posts pointing this out.

As unfortunate is this is, this is not tribute to the Grifter in Chief but extortion paid to keep a company viable. Where as some payees have probably done so because they support the GiC most have paid because they understand the grief their company could suffer and the hands of a manic how is arguably the most powerful person in the world, short of full-blown dictators he admires. That's extortion. Protection money pure and simple. Calling Cook Tim Apple was the very first sign of trouble for Apple, to us the unwashed masses.

The GiC has promised favoritism to oil companies who donate $1B to his war chest. That's bribery as it's voluntarily. It the past these monies would have gone to lobbyists not POTUS. Now, in either case the middle man takes a back seat.

How many posters who decry Cook's action own Apple products. How many of them would whine when Apple suffered at the tiny Hands of Trumpp and import tariffs either restricting the availability of product or increasing the price of same? Would they blame the GiC? Nah. They'd blame Cook for not capitulating.

When Trump shows over the next for years that his policies offered no restriction on free enterprise and we the people didn't have any inflation increases and were better off than during  Biden, then I'll stand corrected that Cook failed in his position as CEO.  But I won't because none of that will have happened. Unless you're a 1%er who the convict approves of.

  • How to stop the macOS firewall leaking system network data after a software update

I've been doing a complete shut down and restart after updates since they stopped shipping OS X on discs. Always seems to make things run better. Those few times I've forgotten I noticed wonky-ness (technical term) until I did it.
A complete Shutdown and Restart can sometimes fix wonkiness that isn't fixed by a Restart sans Shutdown. This has worked for my even when wonkiness wasn't update related. If there's any reason do suspect/expect a Restart to fix a problem, I do a complete Shutdown and Restart. It takes a minute or less longer.

  • Apple employees fired over charity donation matching fraud

Six employees were charged, which becomes a matter of public record. Assuming guilt is proved, I'd want them to be jailed and fined harshly. That doesn't seem to happen often.

'Around fifty' have been fired. With no charges yet filed, it'd be wrong to name them. We're supposed to be a country of due process, innocent until proven guilty. There have somewhat recently been an infamous example of doxing someone who were innocent. That shouldn't be how it works.

So if and when any of the 'About Fifty' are charged, they become fair game for publication. Should Apple make a misstep in naming someone, they could end up paying more than they suspected any individual fraudulently gained. Upset because "Indians weren't named and only non-Indians were" reads very xenophobic.

AI isn't an investigative news platform, so my only problem would be if they were to report bad information. That they provided basically highlights or the reporting of other sources doesn't bother me. I never would have checked India Time to see if anything's poppin'. Whether or not IT does investigative journalism is beyond my kin or interest.

  • Satechi's Mac mini M4 Stand & Hub arrives February 17

This is a low- to mid level dock/hub. Satechi could bring out a Thunderbolt only hub, all USB-C ports, and three of four of them ≤40GB . But it's got to plug into a like port on  the mini that seems unlikely to get that much throughput from one mini port. A flagship port would cost more.

  • Apple CEO Tim Cook personally invested $1 million in Trump's inauguration

If it’s an investment what is the expected ROI
The ability to continue to do business. Trump has promised to place excessive tariffs on imports between 25% and 100%. Some of that is no doubt Trump bullshit scare tactics. But he's in a position to make a lot of it happen, stacking all three branches as he has. If any company runs afoul of him they can look forward to a lot of interference in their business. Congressional hearings, FBI investigations who knows what. It's his stacked deck and he'll be dealing the hands.
So you’re saying he will conduct lawfare, just like Biden and the rest of the democrats?

So you're saying giving Trump lawful due process for the crimes he's lawfully been charged and lawfully convicted with is wrong? You're saying he is above the law? He thinks so too.

You are in denial in presenting your false equivalency. Trump and the RNC have been proudly conducting an abuse of what you imply is lawful warfare since 2016, presenting outright lies, rumors and innuendo as truths. To say Biden and Democrats have done the same is MAGA at its best. It appears that in your mind Trump and the RNC have committed no crimes and/or unethical conduct whatsoever.

You ignore established, documented fact. Worse you actually deny established documented fact, and choose to support and espouse baseless accusations which is Trump's and RNC's stock in trade. That's Job 1 in the MAGA handbook. No doubt you will be amply rewarded. At the end of the next four years you can return and tell us all the ways America and your life was better kneeling to Trump. They won't be the same things.

Back to the point of the article.
