  • AirTag tracking busts rich kid stealing presidential campaign yard signs

Would you mind clarifying this comment? An AirTag is maybe $30, tops.

If you’ve noticed a history of your yard signs being stolen and you’d like to catch the thief, this is a VERY small risk to take and — as this story shows — it paid off handsomely for the victims.

Hopefully that young MAGAt will get a fine, fingerprinted and mug shot, and a short spell in county jail in the hopes of teaching him to respect other people’s property (and right to express their political opinion).
He wasn't the only one involved in the thefts. Momma Bear played a big part. With the two working together they constitute a conspiracy which in itself is a felony in many states. They won't see real jail time if any at all, but I wouldn't say no to 60 days in the county lockup and lengthy probation for them both.

Nothing in that makes any sense. It's not like they had to cash in a CD to do that. How is their "financial situation" in anyway relevant? How many signs must be stolen from them before you see the small cost of an AirTag being "justified"? Three isn't enough?

  • Goldman Sachs faces $50M in fines over Apple Card failures

I've had only one charge dispute with my Apple Card but it was enough to make me question whether I should use the card at all. That's how much of a nightmare this dispute was. Doing an iMessage-based claim (or card limit increase) couldn't be easier with the Apple Card, but the back end with GS was a nightmare.

I had made a legitimate purchase which never arrived. I forget the details about the mailing but I was able to contact the USPS to track the package which showed that it was returned to sender. The company in question said that it doesn't matter so they wouldn't resend or refund. I then used all this info to let GS know. It took several months and several attempts to finally get my card permanently refunded.

I hope that they've cleaned that up by now.
I had what seems exactly the same problem. My package was returned because the sender got the last two digits of the zip code wrong. WTF. It was a FedEx FU. I spent way too much time talking to them along with sending the merchant a copy of the tracking info. I told them it was their carrier who got it wrong not me.

"No refund for you". But I was welcome to buy the product again at $350+ "and if the first one ever shows up of course we'll issue a refund." So I called G-S where I was sent to an Apple Card specialist. I sent a copy of the tracking info and she said they'll talk to the merchant and will get back to me. Three days later I got an email from G-S that a chargeback was authorized. Two days later the merchant sent an email offering a 10% discount on that item and thanked my for my patronage. I sent them a No Thank You. I should have called them at the first pushback from the merchant.

I've contacted G-S for a few minor things and have been impressed with the handling of those as well. I know they don't get a halo, but the AC people are OK buy me. If they get out of the deal, I hope Apple partners with someone who also give stellar service. But I don't feel like that's going to happen.

  • Inbound M4 Mac updates rumored to arrive as early as October 28

Given that Apple generally likes to announce new hardware at about 9AM ET...

This is completely true. Note the mention of generally and announce. That's not a mention of an event which almost always starts at 10:00AM PT and usually on Tuesdays. Usually.

I don't see a mini being event worthy at this point unless there was a radical change in the form factor and performance. The same with updating MacBooks. No new form factor then it's a press release. I want an Apple Studio Display but 32" not 27". That would be even worthy.  I'm not holding my breath.

  • Trump says Tim Cook complained to him about the EU

I doubt this conversation took place. First Cook is smart enough to know that Trump is a nut job and can't be trusted.

Every post or speech  the convicted felon makes contains lies with are constantly refuted with actual fact. Trumpp makes claims that can't be documented beyond "I'm told..." or "I hear..." which dead-ends. High level RNC members are leaving the SS Trumptanic on practically a daily basis.

He's been demonstrating on the same daily basis that TDS doesn't mean what the RNC wants it to mean. Cook knows this goofball won't really help him unless it's good for Trump.

No doubt Cook would ask for help from someone who might actually be able to provide some, but that's not the Grifter in Chief. Trump wants people to believe that everyone comes to him because he is the guy that gets things done. Like building a wall and making Mexico pay for it. So I'm not surprised he's making that claim.

Here's a man who admires dictators, has basically said he'll be a dictator if elected, and will go after Jimmy Kimmel and others who've "wronged" him.

So I find it hard to believe Cook would waste his time trying to talk some sense into him. Further it's been well documented that a reasonable person can't believe a word that comes out of his mouth. So it will take Cook saying it's true before I accept this as even a possibility.
