Does there seem to be an unusual amount of Apple firmware issues in the past few weeks, some serious enough to that require them pulled? Maybe it's relatively common and I've just not noticed. At the moment, it's hitting a big range of Apple products.
In the past year, Android devices . . .

This isn't about some platform dick measuring contest. I've never used an Android product and probably never will. Android's issues aren't my concern. Apple's are. I give Android credit where, and hold Apple accountable for. Deflection is not a friend.

Betas are avoided because I'm just not that adventurous. Kudos to those who are. I only want Apple to figure it out before it becomes a release candidate.

  • Apple focusing on lower resolution screens to make a more affordable Apple Vision Pro

Or... Apple finds a way to make the same quality at a lower cost.
This would be the best case, obviously. But Apple will probably offer a lower resolution alternative eventually unless they don't mind limiting it to be an ultra niche product. I think they do.

Even offering a version of with the same resolution and fewer features seems unlikely. I'd like to see v1 cheaper of course. The second single biggest improvement in would be a battery back that detaches from the cord. This would be much more convenient than having to deal with say two or three corded spares. Or maybe a much lighter weight headset but I don't think that's a reality.

Can third-party IEC earbuds be used? I don't know how good the factory audio is or that I'd want to bother anybody if I used this in a public setting.

  • Europe demands Apple open up iOS for better accessory compatibility

Verstager is total moron. There is ZERO chance of Apple ever releasing its propriety OS for either the iPhone or iPad to 3rd party vendors.

I would agree, but that's not what's being asked of them. As I'm reading it, Apple/Google will have to allow 3rd party vendors to call on/use/access the hardware on an iPhone or Android phone, to facilitate connections.  This is not about installing iOS on some third-party product.
As I read it the EU wants Apple to release ACCESS to their hardware via ACCESS to their proprietary software. That's what Perm might mean by his statement. Access to iOS and iPadOS is what Apple doesn't want to grant.

I guess Apple need to stop selling in the EU.

Let EU citizens import the devices from the UK if they want them.
I doubt Apple's Board would let Cook do that, but a boycott would be an interesting move if it's even possible. Apple would still have to support products already sold and under warranty I assume. But Apple saying FU EU could be a cool move. I don't know the possible financial repercussions for Apple or employees of Apple business related companies.

  • Apple Watch Series 10 review roundup: A strong annual upgrade

MKBHD is one of my very favorite reviewers. I don't always agree with him but I like is presentations. His point about this Watch signaling that we're in for incremental sameness down a long road is disappointing because he's probably right.

The S10 would be a second Apple Watch for me so the SpO2 function isn't a consideration. The difference in display size is so small it's measure in pixels not mm. To that end they're the same to me. Having the ability to read the S10 display at a shallower angle is a plus, maybe not a big one. My oldest Watch is an S8 so the S10 might be a bit of a performance upgrade but again not much in practical terms.

  • JPMorgan could take over duties as Apple Card issuer if it gets a good enough deal

I agree that having everyone on the same billing cycle isn’t a good idea. You end up with a boom of calls early in the month and not much the rest of the month which is a staffing nightmare. I am not a fan of Chase based on past experiences. Oh well, we will see.
That’s the best feature of the whole Apple Card/Goldman relationship.
I love that. I'm pretty much onboard with every feature of the Apple Card. Being VISA would be better for me as there is one place I go that doesn't take MS. G-S doesn't want the card and probably very few others do, given that G-S got the job. If JPM gets the Card I hope the feature set doesn't change for the worse. I pay the card off every month so the interest rate isn't a huge consideration. The app is a great incentive to avoid making a payment amount that would incur interest.
