  • U.S. antitrust officials ask to be heard in Epic vs. Apple appeal

    B-Mc-C said:
Is that a thing now – the government “participating” or intervening in civil cases between two private parties? Merrick Garland has crossed the line. Such an abuse of power. If you hate Apple, sue them yourselves.
A very stable genius with presidential armchair ambitions! Given that the case is regarding antitrust issues, it is not an over reach for the government to get involved. The government creates the laws that is being used to determine who is and isn’t right in this case.

  • Netflix now features an external subscription button on iOS

Ridiculous. Apple needs to charge a fair fee for that link in order to cover the costs of platform usage and access to Apple customers, App Store and data center maintenance, marketing, and associated utilities.

As someone previously stated, Apple didn’t make the sacrifices to offer a free ride.

Apple’s cut pays for the manpower and resources that enable the various platforms to be the successes they are. That money doesn’t grow on trees.

As a rule, I never mess with apps that destroy my seamless experience by forcing their shenanigans and try to make me jump through hoops to use their services when I previously had such an easy time handling everything through one easy, integrated, nice to use system.

The last app was a reader app. It was easy to make purchases and worked perfectly. Then one day, they decided to destroy my experience, force me out of that convenience, and shove me to their website which lost my paid for archives, and didn’t work well for new items.

Never again. If you don’t use apples system, I don’t use your app. It’s like the late 90s is back to turn the internet into the Wild West again.
That’s like saying Apple should pay Netflix for creating a streaming platform for iOS that their hardware users can access!

  • Apple Watch Series 8's S8 chip may not be a big upgrade from S7

I am guessing the “S&” chip mentioned in the first paragraph is so speedy it is good for 2 years. Maybe 3!

  • EA reportedly tried to sell itself to Apple

    LBeats said:
EA gets worst company in the world award often, sometimes twice in a row. They better offer a good deal.

With that said, it’s long overdue Apple acquire a game studio. Doesn’t even have to be a multi-billion dollar one. Acquire a small indie studio, Apple has the funds to develop all their ideas.
Apple barely delivered the Apple Watch 7. They haven’t delivered a car or VR headset. They can’t even get new screens made and remember that charging pad? Yeah, me neither. They can’t seem to keep talent either. If it is not an iterative iPhone, headphone or computer they haven’t done much of anything. As for software, by their own admission (via their response to an open letter on FCP to do better) they haven’t delivered much there either and Logic Pro is again just an iteration for the most part. Siri is still largely useless for me. My kids have me ask it questions just to get the most ridiculous answers much to their amusement. Don’t know anything about the EA CEO but if he is a creative type he would balance Cook’s lack of imagination and vision (but has delivers great shareholder returns) and maybe be able to get the company to actually deliver on new products.
