  • Multiple mall shootings prompt Apple Store closure in North Carolina

    AppleZulu said:
What? I thought these states’ inexorable march toward unregulated, unrestricted gun sales and ownership was supposed to make everyone safer. You know, because of all the “good guys” wandering around, armed to the teeth. Did Apple check first to see if the mall shootings weren’t just some of those good guys exercising their freedom and protecting us?
Riiiiiiight like it was a legal, permitted, gun owner/carrier just shooting up the place…  such citizens would have been able to put a stop to these types of crimes in a hurry. You take away someone’s RIGHT to bear arms, then only the law abiding citizen is de-armed. The criminal still gets their guns and has a one-up on everyone else. Because the criminal doesn’t care about breaking the law. Simple math

nobody wants guns being sold like candy with no responsibility. Total micharacterization to pretend to have a point.

These kinds tissues are what you have when “defund the police” is a rallying cry and criminals know their victims cant defend themselves. The possibility of a gun is a much better deterrent than a purse weirder by granny to would be criminal minals, terrorists, etc.

Sorry but this was a real LOL moment.
    Weird purses?
    criminal minals?

  • Review: Belkin's new Wemo HomeKit plug is tiny in size and price

I’ve melted one of these (different brand) with a window A/C unit that It should have been Able to handle.  Will these be ok with a smaller (<7000 BTU) a/c?  What about a mid-sized 12,000 BTU a/c?

  • AirPods and AirPods Pro success better than Apple 'could ever imagine'

AirPods were a godsend to me.  I had gone through multiple wireless headsets over the years with either them breaking down or the battery dying.  Even when I found a robust pair (Jaybirds) the sound was never perfect since the fit was always hard to get right.  The sound I get in the standard AP is very close to what I would expect from regular sound systems and very consistent.

The charging case was a brilliant idea and ensures that the AP are always charged.  I don't know how many times I had gone for a run in the past only for the sound to die because I had forgotten to charge the headset.  My original V1 AP are still working though the batteries only last for an hour now.

I will probably buy the AirPod Pros in the next few months and the noise cancelling feature will be useful when flying.  I currently use Bose headphones when flying but they are bulky.
You won’t be sorry!  I love my AirPods Pro

  • Netgear expands Orbi family with Orbi Mesh WiFi system

I have the older Orby system, and it’s been working great. Besides the form factor, I’m wondering if this new system has any speed advantages over the old one?

  • News app Quartz removed from Chinese App Store amidst Hong Kong protests

Huge Apple fan and investor, and I’m hugely disappointed in their cow towing to China.  How can they explain this duplicity.  China is a land of terrific wealth, but corporations and their investors should all agree it is a no-go zone and not do business there.  Easy to type and impossible to implement unfortunately.  However I will be a massively dedicated customer to any firm that takes a strong stand for human rights against any regime that suppresses its people.  (the selfish lying Trump admin included!)
