  • Foxconn may transfer Chinese engineers to Wisconsin LCD plant due to difficult labor marke...

Now *this* is the funniest way to start Election Day: first it was 13,000 jobs and that got revised to 3,000 "knowledge-based workers" and now even *that* looks imperiled.

And all at a hefty cost to Wisconsin voters. For those of you old enough (which means, no one), this will play out like a reboot of "Gung Ho," only the Chinese version.
It is not that funny. This is outcome fo exporting jobs for years while not looking into innovation and training in the US. Thank for this to ingenius idea of saving by offshoring by managment wave by wave for last decades "to save". These people are to come to transfer knowledge and provide training that was lost. Not that nobody wanted those jobs. Offshoring brings lack of interest in certain jobs and skill growth as sideffect because you start competeing with hungry people that in their economies will do this for penny. However, those who cannot afford to get skill and compete with inexpesive laborers in their economies (because they are way different) cannot also afford those products. It is vicious circle and I will not mention how some "geniuses" want to fix it (frequently with taxes).

  • How to download your photos now before Flickr deletes them

That is why I prefer to keep storing on my cloud server and run my own backups. Terrabyte is nothing and one can have personal 10 TB servers easily. It looks like storage services like this are not mature and it was simply a gimmick to get public attention into sharing entertainment. thse days you can do it easily iusing your own storage. Now argument of backup is gone... since Flickr will be deleting and limiting randomly. I also do not understand why I need to pay for something I pushed to the service to get my original version - that sounds like extortion stand point. I get full quality pictures from owned server. Same with music and videos. It seems that need outgrows those commercial services capability.

  • Apple targeted in new patent infringement lawsuit over video processing technology

I kept saying for almost two decades now: Change USPTO patent regulations to what is in Europe to eliminate trolls. If firm is not practicing or not innovating then it cannot claim anything. Also preexsting innovator (a small company that has evidence of using the idea before it was patented by someone else) should be in place protecting some innovators who do not hold patent. Also USPTO should enforec just like patent offices in Europe rather than register and then wait for lawsuits on conflicts and no value patents that snad in a way.

  • How to use your iPhone to get to voting locations, and to track the midterms' results

This is not an invitation to air your political grievances. Read the commenting guidelines if you have any questions about the matter.
Then please keep this neutral. Some links on this article may not be as neutral (as I can see in text) as expected. Let's watch results rather than mentioning activist organizations.

  • UK blames Apple for issues with iOS 'Brexit' app over lack of iPhone NFC access

And what company that provides mobile platform has to do with political problems in EU and UK? Get real. Pretty soon they will demand applications. That is a service and if you do not like platform then move out... or develope yourself including dongles that would do whatever you need.
