  • macOS Catalina beta build suggests upcoming 'Pro Mode'

Wait, fan speed limit overridden? So it would have to be on fans that were already validated to run at higher speeds than the system lets them, which makes me think it'll be limited to new models they planned this out on. They would have had to have known the fans could run faster but artificially capped them.

  • AMD's $799 Radeon Pro W5700 offers a potential GPU alternative for the Mac Pro

God I love their Pro shrouds. Way better looking than the gamer-bling ones.

  • Apple TV+ boasts highest bitrate of any 4K streaming service, report says

Seeing how much detail I could make out in See in 4K on my Surface Pro (I know that's not a 4K screen, but downsampling from it still looks better than 1440p) made me more annoyed at the situation with Netflix and Youtube on iPadOS. There's a sizable increase in detail despite the "I don't care, 1080p is good enough" crowd.

  • iPhone XR update boasts faster 6-core processor and 4GB RAM, alleged benchmark suggests

Their single core performance gains have been very impressive thus far, but it had to slow down in gains somewhere, looks like we're approaching it if this is true.

They'll probably pitch other aspects of the SoC, the GPU and the 'matrix' engine.

Tweaked A12 for XR successor and A13 for the 'Pro' models?

That might enable them to cut costs on the XR a little although it could push up the cost of the pro models as the A13 would have a smaller market to ship to initially.
iirc, this was also said around A12 leaked benchmarks (that ended up being true), that it was a tweaked A11, but it was not so. It just looks like they've finally approached the exponential difficulty curve part of single threaded performance.

  • High-end users on 'Why I'm buying the new Mac Pro'

We deal with PHI data that can't go on AWS or any outside servers. Some of our machines are 768GB RAM, the previous workstation limit, as virtualized instances as mentioned will take a heck of a lot of memory relative to their need for CPU. That bit seems to be throwing off a lot of people online who can't imagine needing 1.5TB in a single workstation. We were already maxing out older platforms.
