This is great news... I bought by 16" loaded MBP assuming it's the last Intel Mac I'll be buying.

My prediction: It'll be like the PowerPC->Intel switch... when they come out the models with them will see a 2x bump in processor performance.

(full disclosure my close friend is a processor architect that's ex-Intel and worked with Apple on their ARMs, though he's always been rather tight lipped)

That's like saying roadsters are long gone... the smallest car that's needed to be built is a crossover SUV

Complete rubbish, of course. Apple has never been healthier by any metric. I wouldn’t trade any of my new, current products for those of yesteryear. 

IMO you're correct in general, but I think in terms of the "vision" and potential product pipeline metric Apple has lost a lot with the passing of Jobs... of course we never know what's going on inside, but every indicator and sniff test would suggest that aspect has been greatly diminished... having a brutal dictator who knew where the puck is heading (if not deciding it's direction) was part of what made Job's Apple unique.

This is beyond a first world problem... again an example (well sort of) of where Apple Power users are now Instagram influencers and fashionistas... need to have that card looking good for selfies and likes!
