it should be same price all over the world and sold from apple stores only and open to all networks, I think apple would sell more. Apple do not need at&t or O2 or any other, it is like selling other apple products from apple store.
That's a good idea. I mean all they need is a GSM version and a CDMA version right? I don't understand why they don't do this.
It does take a sim card though doesn't it? None of the Sprint phones I've ever had use sim cards. Maybe thats a CDMA vs GSM thing.
Still though, if the iphone could be sold this way, think of how dominating it would be THEN.

I agree with most of this, except the part about selling it only at Apple stores. This would cripple their ability to sell more units, not only because there are not Apples stores everywhere, but also because even in the areas that have them, there are not enough to meet the demand.
But, they do need to get away from the foolishness with carrier exclusivity. I understand their need when the original iPhone came out. They needed concessions and help on the part of the carrier. But now that they are worldwide and many of the concessions are gone (revenue sharing and no subsidy, primarily) there doesn't seem to be any real benefit to sticking to one carrier. And the downsides are obvious. Some potential customer just will not or cannot switch to the carrier and negative experiences with the carrier or caused by the carrier reflect on the iPhone itself (unfairly) are a couple.
Oh btw, think people can't spot an alt? Did you create that alt for the name calling or because of the ignore list?
Apparently Chronster can't spot an "alt". Mild paranoia? I am assuming he meant me? I have no desire to re-register and try and continue a discussion with anyone who doesn't want to listen.

No SIM cards in CDMA.

When does winmo 6.5 come out again? I've got an old Samsung Blackjack 2 lying around I'd like to update for the hell of it.
A couple of months, I think. Can that be upgraded?
