Where are the ?it?s a giant iPod, nobody will be interested? people?
THe pre order sales are going to be loaded in the first few hours but I would expect they have dropped off a good bit by now. This was the same as people standing in line for hours waiting.
Do you honestly think they are going to continue to sell 25,000 an hour? Yep 25,000 a hour for the next year.....

You keep changing your tune as Apple's updated numbers trickle in.
Just face facts and admit that this thing is selling like crazy and will continue to sell like crazy, whether that's reflected in hourly numbers, daily numbers, weekly numbers, etc.
I realize one can't believe everything one reads on the internetz, but this post from the NYT Bits Blog (bits.blogs.nytimes.com) caught my attention:

I have it in writing from AT&T that they will NOT be charging an activation fee to turn on 3G. I'm not a big AT&T fan, but I think they did a very good job with the pricing model on this 3G service, i.e. no contract, no activation fee.
Now, if we could just get tethering for our iPhones...
-----
This is good news.
But I wonder if the activation fee is rolled into the extra $130 for 3G. I can imagine if it was $100 extra for 3G, plus $30 activation fee (say), folks would scream at ATT for being insensitive to Apple customers. But if it's rolled in, ATT comes out looking great, something they desperately need.

Sorry until some real numbers come out there isn't any need to admit anything. Not that I care if it sells well or not. All I care about is if I want one or not. Unlike you I buy a product based on what I want I could care less how many others want it or how well it does.
If Apple sold 2 million iPads in the first day and I didn't want one so what? If they sold 2 iPads and I wanted one I will still get it.
I could have orded four today if I wanted. Two from my IBM account and Two from my wifes education account.
Only real comment I made today is I don't plan to get one until I have a chance to use it first. So clearly if I like it I plan on getting one.
Also now that some time has gone by there are some site that dispute the numbers so until Apple releases numbers this is just a rumor.

Of course the fee is rolled into the $130 you pay for getting the 3G version. It would be simple minded to assume otherwise. ATT needs to know the IMEI # for the Sim card in the unit and authorize it to an account, which does cost ATT money. Now, I doubt that ATT is getting $30 from Apple for each 3G enabled iPad, but they're still probably getting something ($10?). I'd somewhat expect them (ATT) to charge you for a full month each time you try to enable/disable the 3G access. Splitting $9.99 down across 28-31 days isn't complex, but a bit of a waste. If someone needs 3G only for a day or two every so often, they're better off w/ their iPhone most likely. Also, people are going to easily get caught in the data caps and recurring monthly data fee, so ATT can easily make profits that way.
Yeah, genius, AI is claiming they'll therefore sell 219 million iPads in the first year.
Didn't you get it? Buy the stock now, since it's going to be going up to $1000 soon.
/sarcasm
Well bought my Apple stock a long time ago. I think I paid about 9.32 a share when I started. So I think I am doing pretty well on the stock.
As for the iPad only thing I am waiting for is to try it out first. Apple fans are often a bit foolish at times when it comes to early adoption so I will wait to hear the real consumer reviews and make sure we don't have things like CPU issues seeing this is a new Apple created CPU or screen issue.
If you ordered one or two today you can always let me know how you like it. I trust your opinion.
Get out your iPhone. Go to http://nationalgeographic.com , then go to the full site, not the mobile one. Add the site to your home screen...
BIG FREAKING DEAL!
I thought I was a fanboy, but dayum! Y'all need to chill out!

A passing mention and some low key speculation sprinkled in amongst other points of interest aren't exactly fanboys freaking out or Apple Insider pimping some kind of manufactured hysteria.
I love mine too, but seriously thinking of either moving to a full mac mini or a win7 media center pc. I use hulu and netflix streaming a lot and looks like this won't ever happen on appletv and it also looks like they aren't about to start any kind of subscription plan for itunes to make tv shows more affordable.
I was hoping apple would incrementally add more capabilities to appletv, but it seems its dormant for a while.
Dude I bought a Windows mega PC to centralize my home entertainment and it has been way too much work to integrate. Also, the Media Center interface isn't as good as I thought it would be. I'd advise against it.
I felt disappointed for not providing any EPP discounts or anything, which I normally get on Macs or iPods similar to an educational discount. I even called the Customer Service, but nope, nothing on iPads, at least not yet. Placed my preorder either way for the 64GB 3G version, just ditched the AppleCare plan instead. It was only for an extra year anyway, wasn't worth $100 (knock on wood).

Personally, I wouldn't buy a product that the manufacturer only sold 2 (or few numbers) of. If it was a mass-produced CE product like the iPad and they only sold 2 (or few) of, sounds like it would be discontinued soon enough. For me, the product has to have at least some measure of success. It tells me that it'll probably be around for a while.

Windows Media Center, Zune, Windows 7, and the new Windows Mobile Phone Series 7 (or whatever they called it) all have beautiful looking interfaces. The Courier would fall into that category too, so everyone that sees screenshots gets excited. In my experience, Microsoft does fall short in the usability aspects though. I don't know why Apple gets called out for form over function when Microsoft doesn't, because that is all I see in their UIs.
I planning making a blue-ray and game playing HTPC, but thus far the computer hasn't made it out of my room (I don't like Windows media center either), and I am wanting to go back to my original idea which was a mini.

Hmmm... National Geographic electronic edition...
I thought Apple was cutting down on porn!
No silly, Apple does not want you looking and lusting after silicone that they didn't make.
Shriveled and sunburnt yams...that they don't mind.

So now the waiting begins until "late April."
Now that this is done, new pro macs on Tuesday, I betcha.
iOS 4.0 introduction in early May.
That's the rumor, along with the possibility of a MBP.

I imagine there will be no shortage on eBay or Craigslist.
It would be cool if they made a MacBook with the iPad OS (I know they still call it the iPhone OS). The would be the Mac Netbook.

I don't know, it's not like they're getting them next week. They have to wait until the 3rd like the rest of us.

It's all good, I got your point. I was just saying that something has to have a bit of success before I buy it, no matter how badly I may want it.
