As the owner/user of an Archos 5It/Android (5inch screen slate computer), there are numerous benefits to a larger (but still pocket-friendly) slate device.
01 - Videos are much more enjoyable on the larger display.
02 - Games are more 'immersive', especially driving games.
03 - Reading eBooks is much more pleasurable and easy on the eyes on a 5 inch screen than on something smaller.
04 - Web Surfing is also much more enjoyable on the larger display.
and on... and on...
DaHader - not you again? Who exactly are you a paid shill for? Very laughable - pocketable at 5"? You must wear very big pants.
For the benefit of yet another naysayer who chooses to question my integrity, I'll humor you:
Pictured (left to right) are some of my current touchscreen/slate devices: Creative Zii EGG/32gb, Sony P-Series (touch-screen modified), Lenovo S10-3t, Archos 5It/32gb, Apple iPad 64gb/WiFi+3g, and iPod Touch 64gb.
Note: The prominent display of the very page you're reading at this moment.
I'd venture this clears up this little matter for you.
Jack of all devices... and master of none. I question your integrity because of both the Creative and Lenovo devices. Not that you're wrong, but just so far from right.
No offence but if I believed you every time you said you owned this or that device, I think you would have to be some kind of multimillionaire who buys every computer and mobile device from every company known.
Every time you want to make a point, you seem to claim ownership of some device or other. I don't believe you.
You're right - this guy has to be a paid shill - a troll at best.
Going from the dimensions, it doesn't seem that unworkable. My iPhone falls sideways in the pockets of my regular jeans, or really, everything that I wear.
It looks like the claimed storage built-in is mostly useless for user files. 2GB is supposedly for the OS, you must have a microSD card for any appreciable number of media and data files.

You still haven't answered the key question - who are you a paid shill for? You are certainly not an average consumer who just wants products that work, work easily, are innovative and have great support.

The Creative because it's a great development platform for both Android and Zii Plazsma, and the Lenovo because it's a solid go anywhere business convertible with the advantage of a large capacitive touchscreen and near-perfect integration with MS Onenote's handwriting recognition engine.
If you have no frame of reference for these technologies, it's expected that you wouldn't understand.

Actually, I'm a retired USAF aerospace/structural engineer who has the intellectual curiosity and resources to buy exactly what he wants... when he wants, regardless of make/model, and your (obviously unlearned) opinion really means nothing to me one way or another.
So it is as expensive as a phone and too small to be a tablet. And it is neither a phone nor a tablet!
What is the point of this device exactly?!
Well, we covered this in the last thread on the Streak, but it's worth repeating...
It's for when you need to make those really big calls. You know, when you get that voice mail where the person on the other end says, "Hey, what's the big idea?"
The key here is having a sizable screen yet still remaining pocketable (for many).
It's an interesting niche, and as one who owns an Archos 5IT (also a 5inch Android slate computer), I can say it's very handy to have around when my phone's screen is too small, but my iPad's just to big, heavy, cumbersome to carry around.
I am not talking about the screen size. I am taking about the device itself. The Streak is basically an Android smartphone without the phon functione. It is even priced higher than an Andoid smartphone (with contract). It is not even logical choice for those who don't own smartphones since they will end up paying more and carry two devices instead of one with exactly the same OS and functions. I don't see the point of this device. Someone is smoking something at Dell. This device might have made sense three years ago but not now.

Actually: It IS a fully functional 3g smartphone... I guess you missed that little detail.
Of course, if Apple offered a larger iPod touch everyone would think that was the bees knees.
They already do... It's Called the iPad, and though the larger screen does make for a somewhat different user experience (only with the right apps), conceptually it really is just an iPod Touch XL.

It's interesting to note that even with a 5" screen, the Streak only has a resolution of 800 x 480, whereas the Iphone 4 offers 960 x 640. Just something to think about it.
Actually: It IS a fully functional 3g smartphone... I guess you missed that little detail.
So it is a smartphone not a tablet nor slate like everyone have been saying. This is even worst for Dell since it is just a large Android smartphone with a year old OS.
Is this the hush-hush project that Dull hired pseudo-analyst Rob Enderle to work on as a part-time paid consultant? Maybe he's the one who came up with that name.

And he ain't wearin' no clothes
Oh, yes, they call him the Streak
Look at that, look at that
Fastest thing on two feet
Look at that, look at that

Oh, yes, they call him the Streak
Look at that, look at that
He likes to show off his physique
Look at that, look at that
If there's an audience to be found
He'll be streakin' around

have nothin' on but a smile. I looked in there, and Ethel was gettin'
her a cold drink. I hollered, "Don't look, Ethel!" But it was too
late. She'd already been mooned. Flashed her right there in front of
the shock absorbers.
(Chorus)
He ain't crude, look at that, look at that
He ain't lewd, look at that, look at that
He's just in the mood to run in the nude
Oh, yes, they call him the Streak
Look at that, look at that
He likes to turn the other cheek
Look at that, look at that
He's always makin' the news
Wearin' just his tennis shoes
