I'd venture this clears up this little matter for you.

ha ha ha, awesome. This forum needs some occasional mass-ownage, and that's it right there. Absolutely gold.

I guess since this device lacks wireless N too, we'll soon hear that the "N" standard sucks anyhow.

Its just like how screen resolution wasnt relevant to iphone fans last year. When almost any android device released had a higher screen res than the iphone.

    Yes, technically true-- but practical?

I can see it filling in for a cell phone (in a pinch) if you only want to carry a single device.

But, it is really too big to hold to your head for anything but a short call.

So you say, you'll use earbuds with a mic or a BT headset! Sure! you're gonna' walk around all day, wired for sound, in anticipation of a phone call.

Most of the time you just want a phone as a phone-- invisible (in pocket or purse) when not in use, or held to your ear for an occasional call.

The only time you really want to wear a headset is:

    1) you are continuously playing a video, music, radio

    2) you are creating an audio or video recording

    3) you are doing tele-markrting

Don't get me wrong, an iPad or a laptop could be used as a phone (in a pinch)... but it would be just about as impractical.

The acid test for practicality of a device as a cell phone-- consider:

The phone rings while you are standing at a urinal...

Are you willing to pay for two carrier contracts-- one for the Streak and noter for a real phone?

If not, then the Streak is just a device somewhere between an iPod Touch and an iPad.

It will be interesting to see if it is a popular form factor.

Holding a phone to the head seems so outdated though.

Not gold, mostly just average devices that'll be pure junk by the end of the year. Except for the Apple ones. HAH

Rest assured that you will soon see Android devices (both smartphone and tablets) supporting 1024x600, 1366x768, and 1600x900 native resolutions as they are each industry standard widescreen display sizes, not just an act to multiplying pixels as dictated by current application constraints.

There's (obviously) room for both in today's market, given that both the iPhone4 and the top/newest Android smartphones (EVO and DROID X) are currently sold out around the country.

There's more room for the top/newest Android smartphones to *try* and fill, since iPhone4 and iPad is sold out WORLDWIDE, and EVO and DROID are not even planned to be sold outside the US.

Seriously! But since we’re posting things we undeniably own because we posted pictures of them here are some things I own.

Here’s a little bridge that I bought on my last trip to NYC.
Here’s a picture of me building my Large Hadron Collider in Geneva. Just a weekend project I like to tinker with.
And here is a picture of what I am working on at work. We call it the Genesis Device. We plan on terraforming Mars. This project is ready, but we have to wait until our sister project is ready to increase the core density to hold the atmosphere and re jump the iron core to create a protective magnetic field. We’re doing this by using well positioned worm holes inside Jupiter and Mars to transfer matter. The higher density of Jupiter means a downward stream, but the timing and positioning can be tricky.
All true, as you can see because I provided pictures.

    Yes, that's true!

How about a Maxwell Smart Shoe-phone?

What are the alternatives to phone-to-head?

    1) wear earbuds

    2) wear a BT headset

Either of those are impractical as you go through the day, so phone-to-head is a practical (while cumbersome) alternative.

If you consider the advances of in-ear hearing aids, it may be possible to solve the audio reception portion by having the phone in your pocket communicate (BT) with an in-ear device.

In normal use, the in-ear device would need to allow normal ambient sounds to be heard.

In phone use, the in-ear device would need to cancel or muffle ambient sounds.

For audio broadcasting, it may be possible for you to voice-activate the phone in your pocket (or nearby), then for it to invoke a "cone-of-silence" by generating white-noise to cancel your voice from being heard by persons nearby.

Hypothetical, here, but it may be possible to speak privately on the phone, while the phone is in your pocket (while standing at the urinal)-- or even while the phone is sitting somewhere near, while you are:

-- standing on the high diving board

-- in the middle of a soccer field

-- standing at that urinal (again)

-- in the middle of a crowded: restaurant; library; train, etc.

    -- riding the roller coaster

-- sitting on stage, awaiting to give a lecture

-- participating in a game show like Jeopardy

Ahh... technology! Consider the possibilities-- you think you are speaking confidentially, one-to-one, under "the-conne-of-silence" and it has switched off...

... but countless other Android 2.x handsets are, and therein lies the difference - Choice

Choice of form-factor, screen size, colors, etc. all running Google's Android, it's like Windows' domination of the PC market all over again; a common OS running on numerous devices.

That's why sometimes it's better to use the Control Secret Card File.

Sure, call me an elitist bastard, but too many people are using iPhones. Most don't have a clue what iTunes even is. It's like, oooh iPhone must buy. I say let them loose on the Androids.

On a slightly more serious note, at the end of the day, let Android get more market share, while wiping out Windows Mobile-whatever, all the better. But as to whether it's a better experience than iOS, well, I tried a Samsung Galaxy for about 5 minutes, didn't see anything compelling.

The Streak is adventurous in it's new form factor, but why Android 1.6? Looks like manufacturers are offering choices, but poorer ones than customers might expect from all the Android hype.

The major difference here is that I Actually Own The Things Pictured/Spoken Of, and you're simply being idiotic in some lame attempt at humor or merely lashing out in order to mask your (probable) envy.

No, I Actually Own The Things Pictured. I said I did. I am a little jealous of solipsism's LHC, though. I gotta get me one of those.

Coincidentally, I just watched some of the old Get Smart.

I keep headphones nearby all the time. For any call longer than a minute, I grab them, they're more comfortable. I'm still trying to find my ideal headset.
