It's interesting to note that even with a 5" screen, the Streak only has a resolution of 800 x 480, whereas the Iphone 4 offers 960 x 640. Just something to think about it.
Apple chose to squeeze a rather absurd number of pixels into a (3.5inch) display area no larger than the one they've used for some 3 years, and the Dell Streak's 800x480 offers a 5 inch widescreen viewing experience at a still pleasing 186.59ppi with a .1361 dot pitch.
Note: The (still marketed/available) iPhone 3GS/iPod Touch has a display 480x320 pixel display of only 3.5 inches that offers a lesser 164.83ppi and a .1541 dot pitch, which is obviously acceptable on some level given that they're still selling well.
So it is a smartphone not a tablet nor slate like everyone have been saying. This is even worst for Dell since it is just a large Android smartphone with a year old OS.
Give up. The guy is relentless. Feeding him only encourages his PABS (the first two letters stand for passive-aggressive).
I don't know exactly what it is, but it left a streak on my monitor.
... well, now that I took a brief look at it, I won't expect that many sales. It looks like an oversized iPhone, or a weird iPod touch. Not that attractive.
just a comment on the Dell streak. it was said it was just an big itouch....but so is an iPad....so if it is a negative factor for the streak then it is a negative factor for the ipad as well...fair is fair....

It actually depends on who you ask. The trolls will tell you that being a large iPod touch is bad for the iPad but when it comes to the Streak (or non Apple product) they will tell you it is the best thing in the world
For the benefit of yet another naysayer who chooses to question my integrity, I'll humor you:
Pictured (left to right) are some of my current touchscreen/slate devices: Creative Zii EGG/32gb, Sony P-Series (touch-screen modified), Lenovo S10-3t, Archos 5It/32gb, Apple iPad 64gb/WiFi+3g, and iPod Touch 64gb.
Note: The prominent display of the very page you're reading at this moment.
I'd venture this clears up this little matter for you.
Dude...you spend way too much money on tech gadgets! :-)

It looks on the surface like a definitive must see device. but If it comes with anything other than Froyo then it will be a disappointment........ But I will check it out and get some hands on when I can.....

I'll be checking it out ASAP, but I have serious reservations about the decision to supply only 2gb of on-board storage (though still expandable via microSDHC), and possible lack of Android 2.x at launch.
All of this is made even more perplexing given that it's been in 'development' for quite a while now, so it should be much better 'realized'. \
Actually No... Apple currently offers nothing in this particular category - The (5 inch) pocketable 3g slate.
Yes, the 5 inch pocketable 3G slate market is wholefully underserved by Apple. All 300 (3000, 30000 or even 300000) people in this market segment are very excited right now.

Yeah I agree...it makes you wonder...but I will wait to pass judgment until i see it in person and get a feel for what it can do......Dell needs something to hang their hat on in the "WIN' column. But I am not sure this is it......

Isn't it funny how important screen resolution and pixel density were to Android fans before the iPhone 4 was released? But now that the iPhone sports the best screen on the planet, a gorgeous screen is suddenly absurd and irrelevant - I'm sorry, but that's just funny.
I guess since this device lacks wireless N too, we'll soon hear that the "N" standard sucks anyhow.

I agree that the sales for this device are not going to make a dent in any smart phone makers market share! But it seems like there is a definite market for a larger phone such as the EVO and the Droid X. But the iphone will still be the king in sales of device to device. But Android based device sales are exploding on Apple right now....

Nice collection by the way - if that's what retirement looks like I either have to lay in a bunch more shelves, or arrange my own demise. Jury's still out on that one for now. But you have fun with all the toys sir - you obviously seem to.
This looks like a super-sized smartphone with an old version of Android. The Marketing geniuses at Dell must know they've missed the boat. This should give the MS Kin a run for it's money...

Can you actually get a device this size in your pants, without wearing cargoes?
My, is that a Streak in your pants or are you just glad to see me?

Of course, if Apple offered a larger iPod touch everyone would think that was the bees knees.
But it sure is nice havin' visitors like you stop by and comment. Pity you can't stay around for long but feel free to come back any ol' time!
Thought I'd channel some Andy Griffith there.
...hasn't anyone even heard of the Archos 5? .....Archos is the CADILLAC of tablets.
Except for one thing: Everyone KNOWS what a Cadillac is.
