I don't know. . . sounds pretty crazy, and it definitely won't happen. . but, maybe it could . .

the crazy thing is, the browns game last year has set precedent for exactly that. they could if they wanted to. but can you imagine the pressure for a field goal kick, if you had DAYS to think about it???

The NFL Statement was baloney, probably to make suicidal Giants fans feel a bit better about their team's monumental collapse.

Pass Interference is pretty much never called on uncatchable balls. Allen threw an uncatchable ball that was yards from where Okeafor tackled the eligible Giants lineman. Shit happens. Just look at the Patriots vs Raiders last year. The Pats shouldn't have even been at the Super Bowl, but here comes that tuck rule...The Giants shouldn't have needed to make that field goal anyway. They lost the game on the previous 42 yard attempt...and allowed the Niners to score 25 points unanswered.

if you check out espn, coach fassel agrees with you, where he said (paraphrased here), "the officials didn't give up 24 unanswered points at the end of the game."

that statement alone gained my respect.

Some New Jersey politician is suing the NFL over that call. He says it denied the Giants an opportunity to advance in the playoffs and as a consequence New Jersey suffered the loss of business and tax revenues from playoff games being played in the Meadowlands. Perfect time for this emoticon.

    Is this for real?

Someone needs to remind this politician that the Giants were the #5 seed in the playoffs, so the only playoff game they could have hosted would be the NFC Championship against the Falcons.

Now, I'm a Falcons fan, I hope they put up a good fight in Philly on Sat night... but come on, Giants/Falcons for the NFC Championship? I wouldn't have bet on it.

What a crazy game. I can't believe it. The Steelers really blew their opportunity to win after Nedney missed his field goal attempt.

The premature fireworks were awesome though.

And you forgot to mention that he's asking for the 2006 Superbowl to make up for the lost revenue.

damn, i gotta bad feeling about my bucs vs. the 49ers today. streets, stoke and owens are about 4 feet taller than any of the bucs secondary, fast or not. and pitt showed the bucs are vulnerable to people ike plaxico burress just reaching up over the defender and gettign the ball.

i think gruden's great and all, but i hope he's realizing now that getting rid of warrick dunn is stupid as hell (though i heard that warrick was unhappy about how dungy was let go... and tony was the guy who believed in warrick first). just let mike alstott run it on every damn down. sure, he'll fumble, but he'll also get 100+ yards too. as long as the fumble occurs early, i can live with it.

damn, the eagles got past the falcons. i guess my rooting for the bucs is all moot anyway.

Boy, Rok you sure are a reluctant fan . . . seems like you doubt that team . . . but then again yer probaly just being realistic

Now I'm just rooting for one thing: for the Titans to get their arse booted back to Teenneessee . . . . their coach is one stuffed hat of an arrogant greesy haired slime ball and we woulda handed his arse to him if it weren't for a lousy call at the end!!!!!

it's called being a bucs fan since '84.

you NEVER get happy about a bucs lead until 2 minutes AFTER regulation. and you never assume the bucs can beat the people they are supposed to.

a decade-plus of losing seasons will jade ANYone.

well, then don't blame coach, man. coach fisher has had the hardest job in pro football over the last 10 years, with the lame duck houston oilers, who no one wanted to come out to watch, yet he still got a decent team on the field. then the titans team without a stadium (or fans -- trust me, nashville wasn't ecstatic about even getting a team. he had to keep winning and winning to get their respect).

which reminds me, what the hell is up with cities that lose teams, then get them back so quick? i can understand with the browns. there was a hell of a lot of history there. but charlotte gets back an NBA team? houston gets back a football team? and from the sound of it, l.a. will get a football team again, one way or another? i say this because for a little while, bernie kosar et al. were trying to get the bucs out of tampa (this was during the last day-glo orange days) and move to cleveland and rename them the browns. i was a huge kosar fan... until he tried that crap. you KNOW that tampa would have never gotten another team again, ever.

'course, guess it doesn't surprise me when there's only one guiding force in pro sports these days -- $$$$.

p.s. one question that's been bugging me all season. why are the indianapolis colts int he afc south, yet the miami dolphine are in the afc east? i thought re-alignment was supposed to fix this screwball nfl-geography?

Obviously that didn't count for much today. Especially when you turn the ball over 5 freaking times!!!

My slaggin that coach is based on his disrespecting a good team several times in interviews . . . no other coach does that . . . its probably because Cowher ended Fisher's playing career by breaking his leg . .

anyway . . .yeah . .get to watch the Raiders (used to live in the bay area) demolish the Titans

Sadly, it's easier to displace teams than owners. That's the situation in Houston, Cleveland and Charlotte in the NBA. LA is in the run because they're the #1 (maybe #2) TV market i the nation, so they will get football whether they care (they don't) or not.
