... Just take a look at what Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple said recently of how Apple is doing. BAM. End of discussion. ...
Not even talking about substantive points ... but anyone who thinks that an opinion from Steve Wozniak is a "Bam. End of discussion." moment, is someone that just shouldn't be taken seriously at all.
Even Wozniak would agree with that as he is an eminently logical person despite whatever other faults he may have.
History Repeats Itself. So it's probably likely that Apple will most likely "almost" die again. Before they come back as Apple 3.0. So I'm not entirely worried. In fact I'm Not Worried At All.
Well, historically speaking once a company starts down the "wrong" road or goes off the rails a bit or whatever, they rarely if ever "come back" and re-invent themselves. Apple is one of the very few companies in business history that has been able to do it, and it was basically all down to ... Steve Jobs.
I don't think the decline has started yet with Apple, but if and when it does, it's not that likely at all they will be able to re-invent themselves a third time. At least based on historical precedent it isn't.
Tim has already said they're happy with the new 4" size due to it's relationship to the reach of the human thumb, I don't think they are going 5" any time soon. As for "leaving money on the table," if they keep introducing more and more variants of their products they will end up like the Apple of the 1990s, and how well did that work out? Almost died.
Got to agree with you.
I think the truth is that someone saw prototypes that were made when Apple was testing going better. Tests that showed them that the current size is the best way to go. And this person is either BSing for attention or simply confused.
I got my wife an iPhone 5 and we needed to return it for an Android with a larger screen. She had to wear glasses to use the phone. There definitely needs to be an option with a GS3 size screen. The Note 2 is a bit too large, but the 4.8-5 inch screens do look good. She also liked the widgets and stuff, iOS needs to be made a bit more current.
Considering that Apple makes a produces a line-up of Macs and even iPad's with different screen sizes, one might think they could produce 2 or 3 iPhones with different sizes and I'm not including the older models. Not all hands are of equal size and so it makes sense from an ergonomics standpoint to offer different sizes of handsets, plus some will prefer larger screen sizes over smaller ones despite the one-handed convenience of the smaller devices.
If this rumor were true having a 4" iPhone 5S then a new larger one called the iPhone 6 just seems strange. What would they call them the following year? The only way this could fly is if they start using odd numbers for the smaller iPhone and even numbers for a larger so the next ones would be the iPhone 7 and 8. But that also seems confusing and very unlike Apple. I think the iPhone+ for the larger one makes much more sense.
At least I have hope to stay with Apple this year for my upgrade. My eyes are really looking forward to a larger screen.

I have a 4s and my son has the S3. I prefer a smaller phone but I do find the S3 better when I'm trying to read stuff on the screen. I wish my eyes weregetting better with age but that's not happening so I can see where a larger phone will have a market.
The large phone rumours only make sense if there is a large and growing segment of the market that wants a large phone and that Apple is "failing to capture." Despite all the talk, I have never seen anyone produce any real numbers that would indicate this is so.
Everyone always talks about how this segment exists, but I have yet to see any real numbers or analysis that indicates it's anything other than a "feeling," or a misconception.
Because people feel that since the SGS 3 and Note 2 are selling well (though way behind the iPhone) that Apple is losing out on customers. Personally I've seen people switching from Android to the iPhone. Even if a few have gone to Android just to get a bigger phone I'd say Apple gained many more than they've lost
I'm about sick and tired of people complaining Apple should do this and Apple should do that. Deal with it. In fact some of you complain about not having NFC or some crap. Would you rather be using this instead?

Why is it that we had to wait for page 2 and a TROLL to point out that this rumor is IDENTICAL TO THE PATENTLY FALSE NONSENSE THAT WAS SPEWED BEFORE THE IPHONE 4S WAS RELEASED?!
I mean COME ON, people! Why is it that we had to wait for ME, who has NO functioning short or long term memory on which I can rely, to remember this and point it out?!

If they'd made the handset in the shape of the first Apple phone (but black like that), I'd want one immediately.
The Apple's income and long term stock price is not effected by rumors. Back when new products could delay current sales because refreshes ran ever 12-18 months this was indeed a problem. Apple has just shifted to a 6 month product cycle for the iPhone and iPad to keep it's lineup fresher and more competitive. This is good for Apple's customers and owners of the stock. The real problem Apple is facing is the stock price has to climb a wall of new money invested to keep it's PE up. So far the economic situation of the world has not been able to do this. That makes the current environment a perfect one to accumulate apple stock, but not Apple futures positions unless you are over a year out on expiration.
Worry about what you can control. Where are you going to get more money to buy into this long term gravy train?

... and my thumbs don't work as well as they used to so I don't give a damn if I can use it with one hand or not.
It's money on the table. I love my 5 but would gladly jump to a 5 inch screen in a heartbeat, as would many others. I use bluetooth headsets and never hold the phone to my head. I dock my phone on the dash for music and nav and would appreciate a larger screen. I don't care one whit what others think about how perfect a narrow phone is. A 5S and 6 offering seems to cover more bases and as a stock holder I think that's not a bad plan for the future.

Of course, they can always go bigger, but that will need developers changing their apps:

Well, I think Apple better start re-evaluating that policy, because Tim Cook will be the death of Apple if he isn't gotten rid of NOW.
Even Steve had some stumbles. The g4 cube, launching mobile me the same day as a new iPhone and new iOS. Ping.

iPhone 6 with 6" screen. iPhone 7 with 7" screen. iPhone 8 and so on.
With Apple adopting new "Touch On" display, larger iPhone is pretty much a lock. Will probably be in 4.7"/4.8" range, if not 5".

What's this? Since when is Apple adopting it? What makes this "proof" of a larger iPhone?
