That's exactly why. And when the phone ships, it won't work for everyone. That's also why they didn't demo Siri, iRadio or the camera. None of it works.

Thank God you're here to set them straight.

Lol, be ready for the Fingergate!

Duh?  What are you 7?  Go ask your mommy if it's okay for you to be on the computer.

What kind of demo would that be? A pretty short demo, don't you think?

I for one have never seen or used any fingerprint authentication device before, so I just would have liked to see it in action, and see how quickly it works. And as you said, it would have been a pretty short demo, so why not include it? This is afterall being touted as a big feature. I would have just liked to see it in action, but I guess that we'll know all about that soon enough when people and reviewers test it out.

Man, was this disappointing or what? A year, they had a year and they come up with a fingerprint sensor that is good for nothing except unlocking you phone? This is all Apple is capable of? Really?

Apple thanks you for your deep concern over its competitiveness.

iTunes purchases as well, and I don't doubt that they'll add more functionality to it sooner rather than later.

The well known saying goes "buy on rumor, sell on news". I think that is what he is referring to.

Not sure what that means, but I literally just registered to point out that the guy is insecure and has no life. I'm posting this from my 5 year old iMac and have my iPhone 5 on my desk right in front of me. I'm a big fan of and advocate for Apple and its products, all the way back to the (shudder) Performa days. Nonetheless, I can't see how anyone can tolerate Tallest Shill's posts. He acts as if anyone who has a negative or neutral reaction to Apple's announcements is committing an act of sacrilege or is some sort of paid advocate of Samsung. I like reading the articles here and reading most of the opinions, even those that are in opposition to my own when they are well articulated, and in the last few weeks I've observed that I'm not the only one who has registered to express this sentiment about him.

I see we have the same usual, shitty responses as with after every single Apple keynote. Glad so many of you are "dissapointed" and "underwhelmed". Maybe it will motivate you to actually go and create something in your lives. The rest of us can appreciate the massive engineering and design efforts that Apple's products require, and the fact that these 2 phones will be by far their best selling devices ever. The 5S looks like a beast, and will be a massive upgrade from my Nexus4 which has been driving me a little crazy these last few months. The 5C is basically an improved 5, which is awesome because the 5 is still an incredible phone.  Can't wait.

I understood very well, but compared what the market trend, and competitors are doing, it's really nice new features that I care less about it, doesn't make me wanna jump to pre-order, not like previous generations, here at the office, almost 70 iPhone users have all the same feeling...

With all those rumor leaked around, sure, I was prepared for the same iPhone 5 form factor, no bigger screen.

Go check out a HTC One, or Samsung S4, the screen looks amazingly gorgeous, very light weight, impressive battery life, and the features are just impressive. Samsung and Sony even have one model that's waterproof.

Can Apple's iPhone do that? No...

So, I'll stick to my iPhone 4S until I see a bigger 4.5" screen, better battery life, and waterproof (my son drools around the phone), and bigger storage capacity, I have a 64GB and can easily fill up with videos from both recording my son, and infant videos to entertain him.

12 months for this?  Stock price is going to get crushed.

Seriously, a whole year and all they did was double the processing power, greatly improve the camera, add a fingerprint sensor, improve the battery life, add an ultra-low power always-on motion sensor, improve the recording frame rates, add China and other international LTE variants, add some colors, and still manage to release to more countries and carriers faster than ever. Slackers.

    You own a Nexus? I've never thought that you'd be using any Android device.<img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

By what definition is it "ironic?" Do you know what the word means?

Soon, Apple needs to install their patented suicide nets in the West too, for disappointed AAPL investors and iSheep who have finally seen the light:

Apple is a company. It sells products to consumers. Consumers have varying opinions. I really could never understand replies like this. What is your point? Why are you taking it so personally if someone else is not impressed by the announcements? Who are you to decide what is or is not objectively impressive? If all you want to see is your own opinion repeated ad nauseum, open up a Word or Pages document and write to your heart's content. Are you really concerned about the feelings of Apple engineers, or your own? Are you so quick to jump to the defense of the products released by Apple competitors? I'm sure they also required "massive engineering and design efforts" as well.

Also, I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but as a lay person who is not completely brainwashed by Apple fever, as you seem to be, I'm predicting far more modest sales of the latest Apple devices, except perhaps in markets where their products have not been available previously. Even there, I don't see the masses clamoring for their iDevices as they have in the past. Remember this post, and quote me on it in time if you feel I was incorrect.
