If you're 5 years old, yes maybe.

If only there was a way to zoom text such that it could become bigger!
Make sure to zoom in using just one hand- otherwise it's not a phone. ;)

I think it is very likely the current innards of the 5s will be put in a new plastic case and called a 6c. I think Apple will likely try and move away from selling models with different numbers which causes confusion. It is likely all phones this year will be called iPhone 6 with a few perhaps having a C or another moniker like Pro, or Air, or something else entirely after it. In 2015 Apple may decide to continue the S tradition or completely do away with numbers just like they are doing with OS X since it was starting to get tedious. As long as they only introduce one a year across the line they could conceivably just start using the year instead. That would be the least confusing to consumers.

Do you care about your eyes? Can you read stuff on your iPhone clearly? You must be using magnifying glasses when reading off your phone screen.

Why does everyone think everyone else is just like them?

5SC really? I find that extremely unlikely. I would put money that the 5c replacement will be called the 6c. 2015 will be the year where things will get interesting with names. I think Apple may decide to retire the S line for good and simply call them by name as iPhone, iPhone color, iPhone Air, iPhone Pro, or something completely different. For reference they can simply use the year it was released. All these numbers and letters start to get too confusing once you have more than one new iPhone model released every year. It would be a full circle and return to the very first iPhone which was not called iPhone 1 but simple "The iPhone. "

Are you sure the height of the device is the reason? It's only 0.37" (less than a centimeter) longer which when you divide by 2 for the top and bottom put it at only .17" (or less than 5 millimeters) longer on average hanging off your hand. And considering it's much, much lighter I'm not sure that there is any weight that can be attributed to wanting to take a tumble out of your hands. Did you consider the thickness, weight, or casing materials as potential reasons (in part or in full) as potential reasons for this fumbliness.

While holding my 5s with the bottom right corner centered in my palm, I cannot reach the top row of icons without changing my grip on the device. And that has caused me to shuffle the phone or loose solid hold of the decive in one hand. On the iPhone 4, 3G or any prior design from the 4" 16:9 screen...it was not a problem.

It's the aspect ratio (you pointed out earlier) thst is the issue. It's not horrible but it is a compromise Apple made to functionality for a slightly bigger screen. A 16:9 4.8+" device would be a whole lot worse. This would lead me to believe thst Apple will basically give up on single handed use on any phone larger than 4". That would lead me also to believe that Apple will not only have a larger screen but to keep the smaller screen in the lineup.

I think, what none have mentioned yet, is thst these rumored larger screened iPhones will be just another size to add to the list. I think we all saw that Apple will not budge on price much and the sales of the 5c proved we all just want the premium device. Really the only devicive factor now is screen size. Some want the 3.5" some or the same 4"...many want much larger. I think it would be smart if Apple to have multiple screen sizes.

    Yeah, that sure makes sense.

    …

Do I even need to explain why you’re completely wrong? Haven’t we done this already? How about we turn things around instead. How about YOU explain to ME why the iPhone 5S hardware would be renamed iPhone 6C. Explain why, in a lineup that has established # models and #S models as separate hardware and # models and #C models as the same hardware, Apple would choose to rename a #S model a #C model. Explain how calling the iPhone 5S iPhone 6C would not be disingenuous.

Money, huh. Shame I’m not a betting man.

So what I read from this is that a casing supplier for Apple that already delivered for the Macbook pro and some of the iPhone 5s is expected to continue delivering more cases for Apple.

whoopee. I guess there won't be any real news until at least the quarterly earnings are done. Then, 5 minutes later, there will be no more news again.

    Nope.

5 became 5C. 5S will become 5SC (or, rather, just 5S if they don’t change it). 6 comes out, then 6S. No 6C unless they plasticize the 6 after the 6S is released.

I assume they could continue to sell the 5c as is. No retooling, a mature supply chain, and still a fine product. I got mine when it was called the iPhone 5.

If they are keeping the 4" version how can you say they are giving up on single-handed use. By keeping that size it would mean they simply adding another option, not letting anything go.

I think it makes sense. The iPhone 5 essentially became the iPhone 5C when they put the same basic 2012 components into a new, colour casing and dropped the iPhone 5 from the line up. Those were both unprecedented moves, except for the original iPhone which they got rid of all together.

Now I'm not saying they will do this as Apple doesn't seem to follow any pattern, at least not for long, but I can definitely see them putting the iPhone 5S's basic hardware into a cheaper casing. Despite the reports of the 5C being a failure it has maintained the number 2 and number 3 spots in the US as the highest volume handsets but if the sales are below Apple's desired results they might not want to keep that going.

Can you not see the same casing replacement for the 5S into something cheaper, like a nice, colour plastic casing?

Well, yeah. They have to, at least if they want to keep selling three iPhones at once.

    2013 2014 2015 2016
    5S 6 6S 7
    5C 5S (5SC) 6 (6C) 6S (6SC)
    4S 5C 5S (5SC) 6 (6C)

I figure they’ll drop the C designation this year and just not use it again.

Yes, the iPhone 5 became the 5C. The iPhone 4S didn’t become the 5C, as he is predicting will happen with the 5S. That’s nonsense.

You don't exactly have a good track record with Apple predictions when it comes to iPhone or iPads need I remind you. The 5 became the 5c. For all intents and purposes the 5c is the 5 in a new case. Why wouldn't Apple repeat that with the 5s and with 64 bit and touch ID the C line will likely sell far better. In fact it might be the only option for a 4" iPhone available.

5sc really rolls off the tongue.

    iPhone 4" 6

    iPhone 4" 6c

Because what YOU are claiming is in no way, shape, or form a repeat of what they have already done.

Indeed. Should have killed the numbers two years ago.

Again, 6C, which isn’t an iPhone 6, despite C models being previously the same hardware as the same number the year before.

You really are hopeless and have no clue about Apple at all. We will see who was right. Make sure and bookmark this thread and see you back here in a few months.

YEAH, THEY SURE DIDN’T RENAME THE IPHONE 5 THE 5C, NO SIR THAT DIDN’T HAPPEN, THEY RENAMED THE IPHONE 3G THE 5C THAT’S WHY IT HAS THE EXACT SAME HARDWARE AS THE IPHONE 5 AND IS IN NO WAY LIKE THE 3G LIKE YOU SEEM TO WANT TO CLAIM.

    Shut up already.

And no, this will be reposted when you whine and have it deleted. Don’t bother.

Whatever Apple decides to call any iPhones released in 2014 it will be the 7th generation of devices you will not own one. Or will this be the magical year you finally retire than iPhone 1st gen and actually put your money where your mouth is?  It amazes me that anyone obsesses so much over a product they have no intention of buying. I don't care if they call it iPhone 6, iPhone Pro, or iPhone 2014 or anything else but as long as it includes a 4.7" screen I will call one mine.

P.S. I have no idea what your all cap rant was about because it didn't make any sense. renamed the 3G to a 5c?

Ah, the old standby. Can’t support your nonsensical claims, so you throw in meaningless nonsense.

I figured that anything was worth a shot at this point. You fail to comprehend regular posts, so shouting might have worked. Guess it didn’t, and you remain incapable of even the slightest comprehension.

5S becoming 6C is as likely as a 2.5” iPhone.
