5SC really? I find that extremely unlikely. I would put money that the 5c replacement will be called the 6c. 2015 will be the year where things will get interesting with names. I think Apple may decide to retire the S line for good and simply call them by name as iPhone, iPhone color, iPhone Air, iPhone Pro, or something completely different. For reference they can simply use the year it was released. All these numbers and letters start to get too confusing once you have more than one new iPhone model released every year. It would be a full circle and return to the very first iPhone which was not called iPhone 1 but simple "The iPhone. "
I really hope you're right, the endless nonsense of iPhone numbering is so terribly boring. Apple seem to have escaped it with the iPad, here's hoping they put it to rest with the iPhone.

I figured that anything was worth a shot at this point. You fail to comprehend regular posts, so shouting might have worked. Guess it didn’t, and you remain incapable of even the slightest comprehension.

5S becoming 6C is as likely as a 2.5” iPhone.

I make no claims only predictions just like you. What was the name you predicted for the iPhone 5 again and actually got angry at people for suggesting it might be called an iPhone 5? I also seem to recall you getting angry and shouting at people when rumors surfaced about some new smaller iPad that would be called the iPad mini. Like I said before your track record sucks. And my point about obsessing over a product you have no intention of buying is just pathetic. No one should ever invest this much time or energy over a product they do not own or use. That makes as much sense as me going to a Lamborghini forum and telling actual owners what the company should or should not change on the next year model or writing a review of a Whirpool washing machine even though I never bought one.

Yes, the iPhone 5 became the 5C. The iPhone 4S didn’t become the 5C, as he is predicting will happen with the 5S. That’s nonsense.

This is awful and very confusing Tallest Skil.

    Why not just having:

    iPhone mini and iPhone?

The 5.5" iPhone is the iPad nano.

Again, no one is making claims besides you. All of the rest of us are making speculations or predictions. If you think Apple will sell 2 iPhones one named 5sc and the other 5c in the same year, you really do not get Apple. Is your prediction possible? I suppose it is just like any number of other far out of left field ideas are possible since Apple is unpredictable. The fact that you treat people with such hostility simply because they postulate a different PREDICTION than yours speaks volumes about you. You answered that guy that asked what will the 5c replacement be called as if you were stating a fact. I have been on AI long enough to know that betting against your predictions is nearly always the safest bet.

Now please excuse me while I find a forum for a product I do not own and have no intention of buying and tell all the owners there why they are wrong.

P.S. I doubt many have forgotten that you also predicted Apple will not release a phone larger than 4" this year. Your logic is anything larger is unusable I believer were your words. Haven't seen you double down on that prediction recently. Hoping we forgot that one?

Can rumor sites PLEASE quit posting these Martin Hajek mockups already. They're not based in reality and the latest ones just look like an HTC One with an iOS screen plastered on the front.

The reason for this is because HTC took design cues from the iPhone 5. The HTC One didn't look like that originally:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_One_X

Once the iPhone 5 arrived in 2012, they went with metal with chamfered edges in 2013:

""The HTC One looks just like the iPhone 5!" Those were the words out of many a mouth after HTC unveiled its new, all aluminum Android smartphone last month."

How do you know that? This mockup, more than any before it, closely resembles alleged leaks of the design. Very closely. If the leaks are real and accurate, and then these mockups are indeed based on some reality, and are close to the real deal. Not exact, but close.

If the leaks are completely bogus, then so are the mockups. But thats only IF they are bogus. And I know you (nor I) have any idea if they are 100% real or not real.

Yet it happened anyway. Don't make me dig up the posts. Just cool off your "I know what Apple HAS to name the next iPhone."

So the people here hate Samsung because they believe they copied the iPhone. Icon-based software existed on phones before the iPhone. Samsung released phones with larger screens years before Apple did. Now the people here want Apple to follow in Samsung's footsteps and release two large phablet iPhones, and they suddenly claim that is what everyone wants. So they can walk around looking like dorks holding oversized phones against their heads, which don't fit in a pocket. Might as well go back to the large brick phones of the 80s. But most here are not old enough to know what those phones looked like. Why wait for Apple? Go buy a larger phone and enjoy.

Now I'm not saying they will do this as Apple doesn't seem to follow any pattern, at least not for long, but I can definitely see them putting the iPhone 5S's basic hardware into a cheaper casing. Despite the reports of the 5C being a failure it has maintained the number 2 and number 3 spots in the US as the highest volume handsets but if the sales are below Apple's desired results they might not want to keep that going.

Can you not see the same casing replacement for the 5S into something cheaper, like a nice, colour plastic casing?

    There are competing possibilities:

    A) Apple does not give the plastic/color treatment to any 4.7" device. The 5c remains a product unto itself, but possibly gains some upgraded internals. What internals? Well, the most likely would be 5s internals. Maybe even TouchID.

    B) Apple DOES give a 4.7" device the plastic/color treatment. At which point, the future of the 5c itself would be in question. I would assume (since the 5c JUST launched in 8 GB fashion at $0 w/ contract) that the 5c will continue only as a 'free' 8 GB model. The other capacities will be discontinued. The 6c would then replace it, at 4.7" size, and again, likely posses 5s internals...a step up, yet not all the way up, to where the 6 will stand with its A8 chip.

From a marketing standpoint though, I DO NOT like how 6 and 6c look together. Completely different from 5s and 5c.

No, you heard no such thing. The argument is about whether they would sell the 5C come September. They have the option of keeping it as is, not selling a third model, or starting up the iPhone 5 case manufacturing lines again. I somehow doubt it’s not two or three.

Good to see gwmac upvote anything whatsoever that contradicts me, regardless of the accuracy or quality of the content, though. He’s nothing if not consistent.

If what you are saying is true then why isn't the iPhone 5 available now? Where is it? The 5 was discontinued, put in a plastic case and renamed 5c. The 5s will be put in a plastic case very likely and sold as the 6c. There will be no sc, le, xe, or any other ridiculous named iPhone. People very clearly remember you saying Apple would never in a million years name it the iPhone 5. People also remember you telling us there would be no larger iPhone than the 4". You were wrong then and likely wrong now.

An iPhone 6 and 6c makes sense. One is new and improved with a metal case and larger display and the other is plastic and smaller. An iPhone 5sc alongside an iPhone 6 sounds very implausible. The only thing that should matter to you is that it will be the 7th generation iPhone you won't own.

    Why not just having:

    iPhone mini and iPhone?

The 5.5" iPhone is the iPad nano.

I think it should be more confusing. Let's go back to the Michael Spindler era:

    iPhone 4S LC II
    iPhone 5 LC III+
    iPhone 5 Centris 610
    iPhone 5 Centris 650
    iPhone 6 Quadra 850
    iPhone 6 Quadra 950
    iPhone 6 Quadra 955b

If customers don't ask "which iPhone should I get?" then it is not confusing enough!

These zero-bezel phablets remind me of extra low-profile tires on chrome dubs. The end goal is to just be ridin' on rubber bands wrapped around 25" rims.

I've seen this argument so often and I am very surprised at the lack of imagination.

Apple can make a larger phone and still accomodate people for one handed use.

    How?  --> Through iOS

Example: When you want to bring up spotlight on your iPhone today what do you do? Answer, you place your thumb on the screen and pull down.

Now imagine, a 4.7" inch phone where you can place your thumb on the screen hold for a second and pull right (if you're right handed) or pull left (if you're left handed ) and that 4.7" inch screen gets reduced to a 4" screen on the bottom right or bottom left respectively, for one handed use.

Type your request or access the appropriate icon and when ready, place thumb and swipe back the opposite way for full screen mode.

Maybe Jony can surprise us with this or some other method come september.

I own an iPhone 6 right now, in fact. It was release in 2007, and has since been renamed to “iPhone 6”, since that’s apparently perfectly fine in your world.
