I have a friend who owns a really upscale coffee restaurant and he won't install wifi because he wants people to engage in conversation instead of staring at their device. Why someone would go to Starbucks to study makes no sense to me. When I need to study I find someplace quiet where I know I won't be disturbed.
Sounds like a little Hitler to me. Presumably, he doesn't like people reading books either, or people talking on the phone, or using 3G, or going on their own.

Some of the most enjoyable meals/refreshments I've experienced in the US and abroad were sitting around a communal table engaging with total strangers -- even when we did not speak a common language.
I remember staying at a top Paris hotel on the Rue De Rivoli paying an exorbitant amount for an American breakfast -- later we had a communal lunch at a small cafe * frequented by employees of the Bourse (at 1/4 the price). None of us spoke French and few of them spoke 'Merican -- but we all enjoyed each other!
* They did not serve Beaujolais De Texas (as the French called Coca Cola).
No, but I can define two genres that aren't: rap and hip hop. There are many more, of course.
That's a very ignorant statement.
music |?myo?ozik| noun
1 vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.
You not finding something beautiful doesn't mean it's not beautiful to others. You clearly do have an emotional response to rap music but it's cynical. How can you say this has no harmony...
Apple has never and will never succeed at headphones and speakers. Beats has succeeded and will continue to dominate. It's a much-needed acquisition.
I'm willing to bet that Beats sells 10x as many headphones to the 18-25 demographic as Bose does, and Bose has the better sound quality.
Most people out there don't realize how big headphones/earbuds have become. Beats is the number one player, by far, in the market.
Apple is going to use Beats to raise it's cool factor. Beats will maintain it's name, but everyone will know that it's associated with Apple. Apple will spend hundred of millions in marketing the Beats brand, making the $ Samsung pays it's celebrity endorsers seem paltry in comparison.
Apple's brand doesn't lend itself to celebrity endorsement and it never will. But, Beats on the other hand does, and will be extremely helpful in marketing Beats and Apple products by association.
Good god I hope this isn't the case. That's something I would expect Samsung to do, not Apple.
That's not true. PS3 was indeed over-engineered during its time. They need to do it just right. Not too far ahead, and not behind.
And a lot of exclusive, creative titles came out of it.
The Playstation division remains a bright spot in Sony group today.
How did Sony handle the challenge of the iPod, what did they do with BlueRay, the content people within the company held the hardware people back, what was that malware on the cd ten years ago?
Isn't Sony content people -- don't they still own Columbia Records & Movies?
BlueRay and DRM malware, getting the ok from content people within the company to do any meaningful hardware design, Sony is done without an in-house OS mobile and desktop and a complete separation of the hardware/design part of the company from the backward content people.
Dr. Dre is going to replace Tim Cook as Apple's CEO. I heard it through the grapevine. " src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />
Samsung has offered numerous promotions to sell their phone, even going as far as selling the S5 at buy-one get-one-free. Apple can't diminish their brand with drastic promotions. However, they can with Beats. I'd like to see Apple include free Beats ear-buds (as an option) with every iPhone, or a 30-40% discount on Beats wireless headphones, or free wireless headphones with a 2-year sign-up to Beats, or...the list goes on. Apple has so many ways they can go with this.
I think Beats has something on the drawing board that Apple wants, and wants badly.
Cook is thinking outside the box in buying Beats and I love it. Hopefully they make a couple of these bigger acquisitions every year.
Cook, get rid of the noisy plastic on Beats. Liquid metal?
I bet we see amazing things in Beats hardware in the next 2 years with Apple's cash letting the creative minds within Beats flow.
Cook, get rid of the noisy plastic on Beats. Liquid metal
That is truly unlikely for any headphones.

They still won't compare to Sennheiser in terms of quality, speaking of which Apple used to sell Sennheiser earbuds in their retail stores. I don't know if they still do.

Well, Apple tends to push the envelop sometimes...
I have a Sennheiser HD 650 and I like it and I have also heard a few Beats headphones.
Most people don't care about the difference and with Apple design and engineering behind Beats... only time will tell.
Most people don't care about buying Grande Utopia for their homes when a Paradigm Monitor or Polk Audio will do.
...Beats owns over 60% of the premium headphone market.

I won't argue with you on any of those things, as I suspect you're right. In my experience Apple approaches these things somewhat holistically. They were very successful with the iPods at one point in spite of inferior sound quality compared to some of the better options from their competition. Apple was able to successfully package distribution with the playback device, and they made it look cool. It doesn't necessarily mean they made the best device. That is unfortunately how I also view Beats headphones. As for Sennheiser I have a pair of their cans around somewhere, and I have a pair of their cheap folding headphones. Both are great, especially for their price relative to some of the others. they aren't as pretty, but I don't really care about that.

Depressing...
Makes me think we need to start again.
You just answered your own question.

I've been playing with the Beats app for a while, and I discovered a new sound:
It's a transvestite country band called the Chicksie Dix.

The people who could get in the door at Apple until now - Geeks - made Apple.
Half the people at Beats are probably women behind the scenes, the Geek crowd have a problem with that.

Racist much? What makes him unqualified to be an Apple exec outside the color of his skin?

Apart from the fact that all the people wearing headphones look like tits, because that's what headphones do, what are we supposed to learn?
1. Beats is a global phenomenon with over 60% of the premium headphone market.
2. People from all walks of life young and old choose to enjoy and have fun with Beats headphones.
3. From John Doe on the NYC Subway to lots of multi millionaires, athletes choose Beats headphones.
4. Beats is similar to Apple in many ways and Apple will most likely buy Beats for $3.2B, so get with the program.
5. ...
Apple will hire him as the new chief of industrial design, since the current chief of industrial design has run out of ideas for innovation.
