Surveillance leak shows spyware loves Android, but can't infect Apple's iPhones without jailbreak
By Daniel Eran Dilger
Secret documents that anonymously leaked from global surveillance firm Gamma Group detail broad powers to spy on Android users via its FinSpy tool sold to law enforcement, but note that the tools lack the ability to infect iPhones unless they have been jailbroken.
Just went on a trip, with lots of time in the airport. My friend with an Android (HTC) was certainly the "wall hugger" between us. While I can burn though my iPhone 5's battery quickly if I want to, I can sure make it's life stretch out if I need to (while still using the phone).
Do people really have a problem with the airport ads? It doesn't even mention any competitors and seems pretty tame to me.
How else are we going to drive page views? Come on now - if GE comes out with a new toaster oven we can have a headline about its lack of BlueTooth and how that is obviously either signaling the death knell for Apple since not every device can be connected to iOS or a rumor that Apple is working on the iToaster which should be released any day know and will incorporate at the very least an indicator so you can chose how dark you want your toast and be alerted when it is ready or at the most allow you to upload an image to the toaster to be used to make an image on the bread. Keeping in mind that Apple stock should take at least a 10% hit if they fail to announce any toast related products before the end of the quarter.
Anytime one of these ads crops up and someone knocks it they get Mac vs PC thrown in their face even though Apple stopped running those commercials in 2009. Ridiculous.
So... if it's been over a certain number of years, they never did it and therefore another company can then be criticized for doing it? Interesting. How many years must pass before the reset????
Funny how the advert is about power but without power saving mode the iPhone 5s's battery life is actually better, nice lets advertise something that isn't direct.
Another thing is the people who are charging their phones are using them, unlike the galaxy users.
I actually wonder what they've done because Android 4.4 KitKat is extremely battery draining. These adverts are pointless.
This just proves that samsung is worried and is lossing any grip that they had on the market.

It has to be 4 years. Last year it only had to be 3 years and next year it will be 5 years that must have passed.
One more interesting thing related to this topic. I've been told by AI members that it only counts in advertisements and not while speaking at conferences or during interviews.

Because then they'd be wrong which of course they never are.

I'm also curious about that. Notice also that 2009 is just ancient history when it comes to apple bashing other companies... but 2007 was just yesterday when it comes to talk of how samsung once copied apple.
Yeah, just as odd as those who get upset about Samsung copying Apple only to later bash Samsung products for being a bad product. Are they the same or not? If one is a slavish copy of another then the quality of both will be pretty much equal.
Seriously? Copying someone doesn't mean you do it well! Samshit is a perfect case in point. They even think copying the packaging down to the typeface makes them just as good a product. They are idiots.
If there is one wish I had for the next iPhone, it would be a larger battery. There is absolutely no sense having cool features on a phone, if we have to turn it off to ensure the phone lasts the whole day. Quite simply, even basic features like Push Email, end up killing the battery pretty quickly (especially if you are in an area with poor coverage).
Apple has taken form over function a bit too seriously over the last 2-3 years, and it is beginning to really have an impact on usability. I have used an iPhone from 2007 onwards, but now I am seriously wondering if iPhone makes the best sense.
This company has too much of a comfort zone today, that they are able to get away with many things. And the competition is simply not able to put enough pressure on Apple to keep Apple on its toes. We tolerate and accept everything Apple does, because the alternatives are pretty bad.
Apple probably needs a major disaster, to make it change its ways - like a major product launch that goes wrong, and the company is forced to recall millions of devices, something like that. If they are forced to absorb massive losses, it will the best way to teach Apple a strong lesson.
Guys.... Ur ALL forgetting/missing the point... U shld NOT want/hope for Shamesung's demise... Embrace the competition/rivalry! We ALL know that Apple Makes a far superior product, but if NOT for competitors and other smartphone makers, Apple would NOT have to strive to make us this SUPERIOR product!! Imagine if we would all be stuck having no choice, having to buya G3/G4/G5 !! Yuck!!
Where’s your evidence of this? They explicitly made a superior product in the first place when there was no competition.
C'mon, you're not one of these young kids that doesn't know smartphones existed before the iPhone. One always learns from the competition, even if it's what not to do.

Hey Sammy, what can you do with your phone when it's in "Power saver mode"?
When android is in power saving mode, it makes silent FinSpy spyware calls of voices the mike picks up.

And in all fairness, Sammy did a decent job with battery life on the S5:

Obviously you didn't get that I was being sarcastic, as illustrated by my line referencing the "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" ads!!!

No, Samsung copied apple, then made their version much better than apple's. THEN they bash apple. That's fair game.

So... You're an AI user... And so is droiFTL... I guess that means you're "never wrong" as well?

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.

ROFLOL - let's not overlook all those Samscum phones on the bottom of the list, yet ALL iPhones are right up there near the top.
