Having looked at the 5c in person, I can say that Apple definitely knows better than me. I thought the Blue one was the only one that looked good and maybe the Green one. But I must say that in person even the Yellow looks amazing.
Apple knows what colours look good and I know whatever they select will look great!
But if I do buy a new MBP, I'd still love to get the current colour.
My problem is wear resistance. Alternative finishes are great as long as they hold up well. As to gold, I suspect that they mean gold colored as opposed to a real gold plating. I'd like to see them use the TiN coatings used in the machine tool cutter industry as such a finish ought to hold up very well. Space gray would be nice too, as long as it is again durable.
I'm actually shocked at the resistance to colors in this thread. Apple could choose a poor color that just looks out of place but I would tend to believe they have self control and would choose from a pleasing set of colors.
A gold MBA or MBP (shudder). The definition of tacky. Space gray sound nice, though.
It would just be the champagne gold color of the iPhone not bling gold:
I'm not a fan of the space grey iPhone, I preferred the original black version:
I like the current MBP color for use in a laptop and is close to space grey already:
I don't know why they call it space grey either, space is black. Space is in fact about as black as you can get given that it's black due to a complete absence of light reflecting off anything. Moon grey would be more appropriate.

The moon is grey, the space next to it is black.
Space is not ‘black’. In fact it is filled with the 2,7 K radiation from the Big Bang. You can’t see it, but it is effulgent. Maybe that’s what they meant by ‘space gray’.
Now, why is space black? If the universe in infinite, wherever you look you should see a star, no?

Or beige…
It depends on what we're calling 'space'. To arrive at beige, scientists studied "the colour of light emitted by 200,000 galaxies and have combined them to produce the colour":
If I said what color is a parking space and you park a red car in it and say it's red, that's not the color of the space. A parking space is grey as it's concrete. I suppose that could be the space they meant rather than outer space:

This is like the phrase 'if a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound'? The light emitted from distant objects in space is so weak that human eyes can't detect it, only powerful telescopes and sensors with high sensitivity.
If we are judging color by the perception of the human eye (which is a pretty good idea when describing objects whose color is also determined by the human eye), I'd say its should be space black.
As for space being infinite, if that was the case and not filled with rocks but illuminating objects, I'd still expect a great deal of blackness because of the time it takes to form the distant objects, the density of the clusters and the strength of the illumination.

I understand but when I think of space I think of everything in space. If one were to say the empty space between space that would mean a different thing to me.

I can't help but think that a 12-inch would replace the "11-inch", since that is already listed as 11.6", why would Apple make a model that is just 0.4" bigger?

They already have a 13" MBP that has no HDD or ODD any more so it's gotten very thin and light. Once the MBA goes Retina there will be even less reason to have a 13" in both sizes. That tells me that getting rid of both MBA sizes and replacing them with a 12" MBA would make the most sense.

U2 Charity Red and Carbon Fiber.
Personally I'd like to see a return of the bright anodised colours like the burnt orange and cobalt blue previously used in the iPod lineup.
That's what Product RED is.

I'd like to buy a transparent one. I’m sure with the LED backlighting of both the LCD and the keyboard, it'd look gorgeous.

I'd say gaudy.
You have got to be kidding!!!

13" too big and 11" too small?? Body & colors aside, i don't understand the sizing at all.
Oh, and maybe Apple should go back to the colors of the toilet seat iBooks. They were humble, minimalist and modest, right??
A Mac to match your iPhone.
I have a pink one, though it's not hot pink, ColorWare, I always get my new MacBook Air painted.

A space grey iPhone modded with a silver body instead of the stupid white face that normally goes along with it… man, I’d like that.
