    Anybody who chooses to believe the latter is free to go and buy an Android phone, because frankly speaking, I believe that they are too dumb to own any iOS devices, and I'd rather not have such people as fellow Apple users.

    I completely agree. Some idiot that sits and intentionally bends a phone just to bring attention to himself is an idiot that I hope doesn't replace the phone and continues to use iPhones. I guess he can't get a real job and come up out of his mom and dad's basement. His dad is going to be pissed when he sees what this moron did to his phone!

    No kidding, and where does that word originate from? Oh yeah, it's from Benghazi, which Obama is involved in.

    Anyway, this is going off topic, and we should not detract from the main point of this thread anymore, and that point is that Apple has officially owned the losers who are posting fraudulent iPhone videos on youtube and the people who are spreading FUD about Apple and iPhones.

    And yet I bet you never once jumped on the terms battery-gate, antenna-gate, bend-gate, blahblah-gate, yadayada-gate, or any other fucking gate to ever make a political statement about the Watergate scandal. No, this is just you and your anti-Obama, racially fueled agenda.

    People who do this...

    From how terrified some people get when they see my thumbs, I was expecting a few comments on thumb-bendgate.

    Of course, with enough force you can break anything.

    'Most tested' doesn't mean 'most successful' or 'most robust.' (They probably didn't show the press the bins of destroyed iPhones.)

    And it neglects to answer the question if the iPhone 6 and 6+ take less force to bend than previous iPhones.

    Which is a glaring omission.

    Indeed.

    Sometimes, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

    It's no good Apple staying in their ivory tower; they need to redesign or recall the Plus.

    I guess they're hoping that this will turn out to be nothing more than Antennagate, which was a relatively minor problem. Unfortunately, I fear that this is something which will simply have to play out until next autumn, at which point they can either introduce a new, reinforced model or discontinue it.

    They should have brought out the 4.7" alone. The 5.5" they might as well call the iPhone Pox at this stage.

    This is excellent, great job Apple.  Take action to silence the fools and the chattering naysayers.  I personally like to see Apple fighting back aggressively like this.

    I'll bet you anything that, in our insanely interconnected world, Apple was seeing a slight decline in sales of the iPhone 6 Plus, due to those Youtube bending vids.

    Hey are there any bright eye'd bushy tale engineering students out there that would like to take up a engineering statics problem.

    Some of the basics... I think, (if not, please be kind, it has been almost 35 years)-

    To simulate a phone bending assume bending moment of a beam fulcrum at each end, force applied at center=Mmax at center=Pl/4

    Assume P=100lbs

    L4s= 4.54 in   M= 113.5 in-lbs

    L5s=4.87   M= 121.5

    L6=5.44    M = 136

    L6+=6.22  M = 155.5

    It appears a significant bending capability increase for the same force (think of it as a lever) in the 6+?

    Amount of deflection

    Def = PL^3/48EI

    E = Modulus of elasticity of 7075 Al= 10400 ksi

    I(moment of inertia, in^4)  is unknown(to us) for the phones but is one of the key design elements to reduce bending.

    What the yield point would be... shoot, you look it up!

    Obama is an incompetent amateur who is poor at his job, and I am tired of people like you who constantly bring out the race card in order to defend

    his incompetence. Do you realize what his approval rating is like? There sure must be a lot of racists around.<img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

    I'd love to chat with you some more right now, but I am off to my weekly KKK meeting now, right after I pick up my newly washed white hood at the dry cleaners. Ciao!

    See, this is why I don’t like “Benghazi.” Aha, you thought I’d post my own political views here, did you? Not this time.

    The problem will continue for as long as dumb, overweight people stuff an iPhone, or any other phone, into their too tight jeans and then use it as a cushion or chair.  Apple could have built them out of 1/2" steel and some idiot would still have found a way to bend it and get his 5 seconds of fame.

    It's strange - you don't know that this is even an issue, since all we have to date is very limited anecdotal evidence and a few tests that indicate very large forces are needed to induce permanent deformation, and yet you confidently assert that Apple must redesign or recall the phone. Not to mention the watch that hasn't even been released. It's really hard to take seriously anything you post these days.

    Come, come now; that would be silly.

    Are you mental? If the design didn't pass the test (ie breaks), they won't use the design.

    Fantastic and pertinent move by Apple. Takes the wind out of the "Apple rushed his out and didn't test it" arguments at least. It should be obvious enough that Apple tests the **** out of its hardware products, and the accusations otherwise are mind-numbingly idiotic.

    Well Apple certainly is dealing with this head on. Of course it won't matter what they say as someone will find holes in it or claim they're not doing the right tests or they're lying. Sigh.

    You mean design people claimed was flawed because it was stupid to make an antenna part of the frame and have it exposed despite still using that design over 4.5 years later which zero recalls to the iPhone 4? That mistake?

    Am I the only one who thinks its cool that they use what look to be fourth-gen Touches in their test lab?

    I'll say this for the umpteenth time... Where are all the actual "in the wild" photos from posters here that "claim" 10 of their friends and family's 6+ are bent etc. where are they? Not one. In over 1000 comment posts on the original thread on this issue was people posting their OWN photos of this so called widespread issue ....

    Still waiting for the actual photos from people you know that speak to the apparent flood of design flawed phones out there damaged...
