Next comes the flying car, because apple is certainly defying gravity. A million+ sales of something many people obviously want but nobody really needs.
I'm looking forward to what the 3rd party developers come up with.
When it's thinner and has five day battery life I'll bite, but, touché apple, another hit!
If you'll recall I predict the Sport watch sells 5 million for its first full quarter.
I don't recall seeing that - but I think that 5 million is a very safe bet. My predictions was at least 20 million in first full year and possibly as many as 40 million! With a start like this, I'm starting to think my estimate may also be too conservative. Who was it that said they would self-ban for 30 days if they sold more than 5 million first year? BF?
One million in US on launch day.. for a device that nobody really really needs, is pretty impressive in my eyes. I haven't used a watch since I got my first mobile phone back in the nineties. But Apple made this so delicate, so I actually look forward to go and try it on in a store when it becomes available over here. It's looking damn fine. Good start.
different from you, I haven't used watches for years because I didn't need the timepiece due to the phone. Now, I'm getting one because I keep fcuking forgetting my appointments, meeting reminders, missing notifications and messages on my phone. Also, I don't want to carry the phone into the gym to track the activities. On top of these, I'm working in the chemistry labs daily and not allowed to use the phone with my bare hands. So, Apple watch solves the problems.

my prediction was 15 millions at first and after the price 's released, I dropped it to 5 millions by 12/31 (well I was upset at the Edition). For now, my safe bet is 5-10 millions by year end.
So Apple sold more on opening day than all that Android crap did in one year?
So where is that keyboard-attorney Brlawyer and his troll-boys? He sounded so confident while thumping his Internet chest that the watch would be a dismal failure. Well?
Samsung sold 800 K Gear smart watches in two months - in 2013 - so I would guess you are just inventing numbers you would like to be true. Even the numbers in this article are just made up.

no. Samsung ain't sold 800k in 2 months. They shipped. No wonder I haven't seen any Gear in the wild.

B.S.... the shameful part is you are throwing numbers out your backside.
Even more, Samsung "Gear" crapwatches had a pathetically high return rate. Adding salt to the wound, they were giving away (i.e. because no one would buy that crap) "smartwatch" when one would purchase their flat-screens. You hearing that? Samsung resorted to GIVING AWAY their watches. It's very convenient for you to forget those little tidbits of Scamsung information.

So your attacking someone because they are using "fabricated numbers" as it contradicts an article that is using "fabricated" numbers.
Nice one
This was the first thing CNBC mentioned this morning. I can't believe a number like this is being treated as credible. Whose even heard of this tracking firm? And who would let a firm like this track their emails?
Apple shipped 1,764,000 Macintosh® computers, representing 33 percent growth over the year-ago quarter and exceeding the previous company record for quarterly Mac® shipments by over 150,000. The Company also sold 9,815,000 iPods during the quarter, representing 21 percent growth over the year-ago quarter.
I am not doubting all those shipments end in sales. The same goes for those perennial stupid comments about Samsung shipping large numbers of Galaxy's S phones and Notes and them just ending in landfill. Those sold too. Samsungs past earnings statements were proof of that.
I see Nilay Patel is on CNBC again this morning discussing estimated Watch sales. I guess CNBC has decided he's their go-to guy whenever they discuss the Watch.

"This morning tech pundits were caught flat-footed by a Reuters reportin which Samsung claimed it had “sold” 800,000 of the widely-panned Galaxy Gear smartwatches. This figure seems too good to be true for a device that critics consistently derided as light on battery life, excessively complicated and “inconsistent and frustrating.”
and this;
"Just because a company manufactures and ships (to retailers) a certain number of a device doesn’t mean they’re selling. And an earlier rumor published by BusinessKorea says that Samsung has actually sold only 50,000 Gear smartwatches. The difference between 800,000 and 50,000 is 750,000 smartwatches, and at $300 apiece they represent a potential $225 million in unsold goods."
I'm thinking that I would have fought my inner demons to keep that 800,000 figure out of the conversation.

No, you are speaking out of your backside. How about you provide some links backing your 'quality' numbers?

Pebble launched its smartwatch Kickstarter campaign in 2012 and started shipping the device early last year. Since January 2013, the company has sold over 400,000 smartwatch units, earning Pebble an estimated $60 million in revenue, reports Fortune, which spoke to Pebble CEO Eric Migicovsky. http://www.macrumors.com/2014/03/20/pebble-smartwatch-sales-revenue/
Industry researcher Canalys stated in a new report that only about 720,000 out of 4.6 million Android Wear devices were shipped in the last six months of 2014.
