Apple will still however be happy to sell you rap songs demonizing black women and WWII apps where we remember history outside of the current mainstream news where German kill millions of Jews.

Ah, so who's customer are you becoming?

    Good luck.<img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

That doesn't tell me Libertarians can govern. It only tells me that they can point out flaws in the current government, and in that I can agree. But, then, everybody else can as well, so Libertarians are hardly unique.

Good luck on turning New Hampshire into a Libertarian state.

Here's the thing... Libertarianism is about self-governance, not coalescing power which is what the parties currently "in charge" do best/worst. Self-governance is best suited to our technological age since it's possible today, more than at any time in history, to be completely independent, yet still completely connected to the rest of the world.

American Left: HOW DARE YOU MISTREAT MUSLIM PRISONERS

American Left: HOW DARE YOU FEED A WHITE PRISONER WHO HADN'T EATEN IN DAYS!

    Yeah, hypocrisy much?

You will never convince the loonies who believe that white people are all part of some secret plot to eliminate everyone else.

If it's me you're frothing at, I have to say that I'm optimistic that the majority of white Americans will keep up the recent pace of evolving, some of it with the backing of Silicon Valley corporations. What I see is Apple doing its part. It's one reason I find their story one of the most important in history, going back 500 years to the invention of moveable type and the portable printed book.

The drama is based on a bunch of white guys (and a few gals) who were heirs to a climax cultural ecosystem that had suddenly discovered that making the world a better place for everybody was more important than the ancient, spiritually bankrupt power trips. See, for example pp. 56-59 of Isaacson's biography. You might consider the passage a prescription for personal enlightenment.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/06/24/student-death-georgia-jail_n_7658180.html?utm_hp_ref=crime

So, a black student who was bipolar and hadn't taken his meds, gets into a fight with his girlfriend, and then fights back against arresting officers causing them injuries including a concussion and a broken nose. His girlfriend proffered his medications to indicate his medical issues.

He is jailed into a solitary confinement cell, restrained, and tasered. He is beaten badly and is left alone in the cell and dies. Jailers attempted to  cover up the fact that they beat him and didn't check on him. The two jailers and one contract medical person have been indicted. Nine other deputies have been fired.

Contrast that with the arrest of a 21 year old white male that killed 9 in a church, escaped the scene, was captured some 20 minutes later, though was "polite" and "quiet" and was given a burger king meal because he had complained that he was hungry.

One was a polite, white, racist, psychopath, and the other was a black student with a bipolar condition.

You can call it backing down if you want, but it's just part of the process. The same thing happened when they removed Adult content from the store. Apps featuring nudity for scientific and artistic purposes were at first removed along with the porn, but were gradually restored with review. Apple%u2019s method of doing this accomplished the goal of removing the offensive material the fastest way possible and restoring sanity according to demand.

Well, I don't give 2 bits about confederate flag (no offense to anyone). However, I am a little touchy about big corporations' influence over the lives of little people like me. Influence going well beyond their actual business lines.

If Tim Cook can ban confederate flag -  and the state of Indiana, like he threatened to do - what else can he ban? Shouldn't I be able to do something about this? Is it time for "Free Silicon Valley"? Or - more to the point - for an antitrust investigation? I am beginning to think so.

Right. The procedure of yanking everything and then reviewing and restoring if warranted is the least agonizing way of doing this.

People who see it as Apple caving in to pressure are seeing very primitively.

As an occaisional visitor to the U.S.I can't help but feel banning the confederate flag is a pyrrhic victory. Serious America would grow a set, disarm the population, disarm the culture of gun-worship and tell the NRA to shut up and have a long, hard look at itself.

So something terrible happens in America this past week with EXTREMELY strong racial undertones, and people looked to the confederate flag as the source. People do it with guns all the time for some weird reason. I don't wholly agree with taking down the flag, but it was in apple's best interest to do something in regards to what has been going on.

At least they didn't rip the apps out and KEPT them out. They're working with the devs. I don't see a problem.

Guilty until proven innocent doesn't apply here because no one is in any kind of trouble. It's not like apple is now calling the feds on people who's app is now "offensive."

If guns are the problem, I suggest a ban to all games with guns!

I am glad the app is back. It wasn't trying to be offensive but a history simulation game.

I feel Apple overreacted a bit but they listened to complains following the removal of the game and reinstated it so it's not a big deal. Looking forward to playing Ultimate General.

    No sarcasm detected.

It's a bit like watching your junkie friend managing to organize a supply of clean syringes: yeah, it's an improvement...I guess.

But goddamn. So many people dying is not the "price of freedom".

Sorry, gun rights are in our constitution. That won't change until an amendment is passed. And that will never happen.

That's a subject of considerable debate — the current state of gun management is anything BUT "well-regulated", as required by the Constitution.

But you're right: It won't happen.

You'll just keep killing each other, and we'll look on in wonder and be amazed at how one can be tough on terrorism and call that status quo "freedom".

Correct. Should someone in Washington actually attempt it, that will surely be the day the Second American Civil War starts.

The vast majority of gun deaths aren't caused by legal gun owners. Frankly anyone who buys a gun for another person or sells/gives a gun to someone who failed a background check should be held accountable if that gun is used in a crime.

OT but why doesn't the US just split up and be done with it?  You're like a bickering old unhappily married couple.

I'd approve if the country was split in three; one third Democrat, one third Republican, one third Libertarian.

That's the way it is in almost all civilized nations.
