Well square icons on the circular watch face would look stupid and makes zero sense. if anything Samsung is copying LG more than Apple.

So Samsung is copying LG now despite seemingly never previously putting these UI elements together in their smartwatches until their first release after the Apple Watch? In no way, can you see why Samsung would want to ride in Apple's successful Apple Watch wake and why it's foolish to think they would follow LG's lackluster and doomed smartwatch line?

Is that why the Icons look to have been rendered in EXACTLY the same way as on the Iphone? Because they're copying LG? I don'T think so. I think they're just crapping on Apple on purpose, basically Samsung is now a troll!

    C,mon now - that's a bit harsh.
They are boldly and fearlessly committed to bringing their customers innovative technology. /s

So much anger. Don't worry, I'm a friend of Apple. I bought the Apple Watch and plan to get the next one, too.

I just think it would be a better UI if one could swipe up to get music controls while in the workout app. I think there are multiple opportunities for other improvements, too.

Do you seriously think someone can make a great UI using a round display?

It has never happenned before for a very good reason.

Sure it has. UI merely stands for user interface which means "the space where interactions between humans and machines occur." If you want to talk about a display then look at Nest. Technically the display is square but their overlay and graphics make it a round display for all intents and purposes. Is that not user friendly for the data it provides? How about gauges in a car? Even modern cars with digital readouts still use round gauges because of both cultural reasons as well as how our brains absorb certain kinds of data. Perhaps you meant a touchscreen where the UI output is also the same as the input. That leans a little more in your favour, but I could see a round, digital poker table functioning quiet nicely, and being better than an rectangle.

It seems that you're describing what happens the *second* time after going to the Now Playing glance. I was describing the first time after starting the Activity app.

My headphones don't have controls, so maybe that would help this specific issue.

Congrats!  You were the very first Samsung apologist to pretend - and with a straight face - to be unable to see the change in design from earlier Samsung watches and any similarity, in that change, to the ?Watch!  Shape notwithstanding...

What does any of that have to do with the validity of his point or his right to express his opinion? It seems to me his opinion may differ with yours and his post history is all you could find to throw at him. A pretty weak stance, and no defence of your own point - if you even had one.

    post history is very important.

Most trolls only post negative comments.  Apple could create a cure for cancer and they would not comment.

But they choose to comment only when there is something negative.

NEXT (by the way that's my line)
Post history only shows you what they have previously posted and may give you an incite into their motivations or any hidden agenda, I grant you. Still, dismissing an opinion entirely due to post history is rather unfair, since they may be genuine. If it is negative, then that doesn't mean they are always against Apple. I am an Apple fan, but still have negative opinions about some of their decisions. That's as it should be. Otherwise you may be guilty of fanboyism.

He's also trying to score a "win" using a hypothetical argument. Hypotheticals aren't proof, nor facts.

Since we are all anonymous here, we are effectively (and for all practical purposes) what we post. Your self-image might say, "but but but I'm an Apple fan" but if all you do is nitpick over Apple's faults and/or always argue against any positive thing said about Apple (such as our resident contrarians), then you're trolling. So in that regard, posting history matters. What you post is the only thing that counts when it comes to your presence in these forums.

    Oh come on!

    Another shameless rip!

Not the round form factor, but the icon setup all the way down to colors.

This isn't "inevitable" any more than theformerandroidguywhosebossstolehisgirl bates trying to make it sound like the iPhone rips are something the "industry" would do anyway (despite being nowhere near at the time iPhone showed everyone how it's done).

The watch had been done. It sucked.

Apple changed the game and did it right.

Now they get copied by their biggest plagiarizer again.

I don't car of Apple sure them a thousand times. It's got to stop.

Keep the round shape. But don't copy UI.

And no it's not a perfect copy but it does completely steal the "look and feel" which had been painstakingly crafted as a proprietary experience.

Maybe Korea is cool with that. But in the USA that kind of crap is illegal.

    Or at least it was.

Writers and actors get their careers damaged for even partial plagiarism. Should be no different here.

Yeah I've got a pair of LG Bluetooth headphones that are fantastic.

What's next for Samsung watch? Diamond shape or Oval? No limit for Samsung as long as they can't sell these craps...

Someone else already posted a screenshot of the Tizen UI with round icons. The software on this watch is Tizen as well. Was Tizen copying the Apple Watch back in 2013?

Yo, Apple self driving car is already being tested.

    wow.

But Kara Swisher and Jon Fortt said this morning no way Apple is building a car. They completely laughed it off.

I'm not saying that a round shape is appropriate for TVs iPads iPhones, but wouldnt be surprised if apple will make a round (circle or oval) watch in the future. The square is already exhausted, but turning it around I guess a romb might be another option. There are not that many options oout there..

    A rhombus? Really?

This is why I never post if I've been drinking.

Here we go again. That's a pretty ironic statement considering aesthetics is at least half of what the Apple Brand brings to the table, and for my money it's considerably more. For Apple, aesthetics is at least as important a reason to do something as is functionality.

And once again, going round doesn't mean it has to be "much" larger. It also doesn't mean that the useable space can't be adapted to be better utilized than with a square.

    <img alt="" class="lightbox-enabled" data-id="57800" data-type="61" src="http://forums.appleinsider.com/content/type/61/id/57800/width/350/height/700/flags/LL" style="; width: 350px; height: 197px">

I own the 38 mm Apple Watch. I have yet to see a round smart watch with the display close to the size of my watch. All of them are a lot bigger. You can't utilize corners with a round display. Show me an actual round smart watch that is similar in size to the 38 mm Apple Watch and can display all information without cutting anything off.

How many Samsung designers does it take to make an original product? none....
