Well if they did copy Apple's user interface for apps, they copied the absolute worst part of of the Apple Watch. Apps on the Apple Watch are horrible, and the user experience is just as bad.
Example: I'm working out using the Activity app and I want to skip to the next song using the music glance. Here's the steps I need to go through:
1. Click the digital crown. This brings me to the apps page.
2. Click the digital crown again (without double clicking by going too fast). This recenters me in the app screen.
3. Click the digital crown yet again. This brings up to the watch face.
4. Swipe up to get to the glances view.
5. Swipe to the glance you want.
If you want to do it again, there's a different, faster way, but it's still long and annoying. And the stupid friends long button is always there, waiting to be pressed accidentally since I nearly never want to send anyone a drawing or a tap.
no. from Activity:
1. double click the crown (moves to clockface)
2. swipe up to remote glance (last used glance)
3. change track
What does any of that have to do with the validity of his point or his right to express his opinion? It seems to me his opinion may differ with yours and his post history is all you could find to throw at him. A pretty weak stance, and no defence of your own point - if you even had one.
I'll bite… Who said anything about the round watch as coping Apple? Also, where are the round icons in those patent images. If Rogifan's hypothesis has a chance of being correct they will reflected since "it's the only way to do icons on a round watch face¡".
The patent is discussing a method of scheduling. Those are Tizen's icons in a 360 degree layout in accordance to the circular dial.
The icon layout inside of a circle really isn't anything new.
Those are some good criticisms. Jakob Nielsen has been at the forefront of simplicity and usability for quite a while for web-based content. I was not aware they'd branched out to other forms of UI.
Perhaps the Watch is really not for fat-fingered people. It's easy to criticize, but not so easy to propose a solution.
Btw, how will Samsung's copy of it solve the problem?
Someone else already posted a screenshot of the Tizen UI with round icons. The software on this watch is Tizen as well. Was Tizen copying the Apple Watch back in 2013?
Oh, please. Does nobody actually fact check knockboy on his screenshots? A quick search of Tizen watch UIs from before the Apple Watch shows the typical Samsung inconsistency and lack of refinement in icon shape, style, and design (some are square, some abstract line art, others are skeuomorphic).
At minimum, the Apple Watch UI inspired Sammy to apply consistency in the design of their Tizen UI for watches.
come on guys, it's a round watch. I have a feeling apple might 'copy' the design in the next generation. The wheel has already been invented, and everyone is using it. Stop this nonsense
question - why are samsung's icons for the telephone green with a rotary phone handset? other than the fact that apple's is? there's no reason for it to be green. then why green? same with their other icons, clouds, etc... they copy apples design decisions, right now to icon colors. why?
Of all the cell phones I have ever owned since the late 90's, almost all had a VERY similar old school looking phone handset icon where the green phone handset button places or answers the call, and the red phone handset button ends or ignores the call. Even if they didn't have the phone handset itself, green is always answer (go) and red is always stop (hangup/ignore).
That green/red coloring and the old school handset shape has been around for a long, long, long time. I remember when I got this bad boy back in the day:

You know you can tell Apple Watch is a market success? Samsung is copying their UI look and feel.
You know you can tell Apple Watch is a market success? Trolls are claims that some other company was doing exactly the same thing before Apple, even though when it was first announced they were claiming that it will fail because they aren't doing the exactly same thing as all the failures on the market.
But Samesung has a trick up its sleeve - it will have a special limited edition that is functionally identical to the normal gear, but be very exclusive and cost several times as much as even the most expensive 'normal' option. Shamesung innovation at its finest! You Appletards are just jealous.

Wow I've never had problems tapping the right icon and I have fat fingers.
That was meant to be sarcastic.
Speak for yourself. I use it every day no problems.

it means the guy is likely a troll.
I own a reasonably high-end BMW. It's the
shittiestmost embarrassing UI. Not something I would hold up as an example. It's a wonder more people don't have accidents trying to navigate this sad little effort.
I don't bother to read things when I do not have an abstract, précis, or a preview of what I am about to read. It's a worthless effort.

Please quit trolling.

Kind of funny that this thread has had more views and more posts then the five pervious threads about the Apple Watch combined.

Anything on this site about Samsung gets the clicks.

For the first few months I couldn't stand it. Having had two BMW's with iDrive now, I'm quite used to it.
The keyboard layout was just an example of a dial UI and not a testament to BMW's keyboard implementation.
Fortunately, the voice, gesture and touch capabilities have been improving on newer models.
Tizen - Bringing you round icons since 2013
Oh, for Pete's sake... the 7th-gen iPod Nano had round icons the year before that.

do you have one?
