A heavy Apple Watch influence? Oh of course. Both use round icons which nobody had even seen before Apple Watch!

Did you know since when Samsung has been working on that watch? Long before Apple Watch was presented!

Just a hint: look at other screenshots of Gear S2 to understand that every concept in this watch is about round shapes.
You cannot compare two watches by just looking at home Screens which in this case is Tizon like since the watch is a Tizon-baes watch!

90% of Apple Watch's Feature were presented in Samsung Watches before as well. But you never indicated anything could have been copied from Samsung.

Samsung started to use round icons in there smartwatches in 2014 before the apple watch and have been using round icons since 2013 in other products. Cant wait till apple releases the apple car and everyone says samsung copied them even though they have been in the car business since 1994.

Tell us please, how is it that you have access to such internal Samsung information?

Has Samsung shared anywhere publicly how long they've been working on this specific concept?

Apple Watch was introduced in early September 2014, almost exactly a year before this Samsung product will be fully unveiled.

Incidentally, the round icons appear to have shown up within the past three months — they weren't in the teaser image released three months ago.

I'm not knocking the watch, btw. The Galaxy Gear S2 looks rather nice and might turn out to be a really nice Apple Watch alternative for Android users.

I just get sniffy when something smells like shill, and Samsung has been caught numerous times astro-turfing the web with hired liars marketers posing as regular users.

He's likely referring to this patent (Feb 2014) that shows Samsung's round bezel controller:

As for the icons, they're default to Tizen:

Says the entire design and marketing, as well as every demo and word uttered from the people who made it, smartass. :)

You could turn the iPhone 6 into a shoephone by adapting a correspondingly large and rigid sole. That doesn't mean it's designed, intended, or built as a shoephone.

Pretty much a known fact that Samsung starting working on a smartwatch after the original rumors of the Apple Watch began to surface (Samsung's entire and obsessive strategy is to try and beat Apple to the punch with any kind of product). And with a two-year headstart the best they could come up with was the abortion knows as the Galaxy Gear.  Embarrassing.

I think it looks really nice.
They probably intended to copy Apple for different things and we should see more of that ice the entire UI is shown.
But the design of the hardware is nice.

Actually a simple google search by date shows how there were no rumors of Samsung watch before the rumors of the Apple watch started appearing. It was approx on March 3rd 2014 if I remember correctly. The months before no one talked of a Samsung watch but right after the Apple tumors, so many websites talked of a Samsung watch. Pathetic.

Sometimes it's the consumer that decides what your product is despite what it was designed for. Steve Jobs wasn't particularly fond that the iPhone was being used to play games, but that's what people decide they wanted to use it for.

So now things are being built on rumors?

    I agree.

However, I do believe that Apple's assessment that phones are (currently) held in hands and against ears is spot-on, as is their bet that wristwatches will predominantly be worn on wrists.

And I always thought people would wear their pants around their waists.

Well if they did copy Apple's user interface for apps, they copied the absolute worst part of of the Apple Watch. Apps on the Apple Watch are horrible, and the user experience is just as bad.

Example: I'm working out using the Activity app and I want to skip to the next song using the music glance. Here's the steps I need to go through:
    1. Click the digital crown. This brings me to the apps page.
    2. Click the digital crown again (without double clicking by going too fast). This recenters me in the app screen.
    3. Click the digital crown yet again. This brings up to the watch face.
    4. Swipe up to get to the glances view.
    5. Swipe to the glance you want.

If you want to do it again, there's a different, faster way, but it's still long and annoying. And the stupid friends long button is always there, waiting to be pressed accidentally since I nearly never want to send anyone a drawing or a tap.

Oh dear, why some people always have to complicate things?

There are a few ways to do this, I hope these can help you a bit...
    1-"hey Siri.... Skip this song"
    2-headphone, Bluetooth or wired.
...Or if you prefer more complicated method
3-double click digital Crown takes you back to watch face, then swipe up to glance (you can set it in preference)
4-Single click to go back to apps page, click music app

I suppose when you want to delet a file on your computer, you will:
    1. Open recycle bin folder
    2. Open the folder contains the file that needs to be deleted.
    3. Drag the file to recycle bin folder.
    4. Close file folder
    5. Close recycle bin folder

Actually... I think you are right, Apple watch is not your thing

Well, it does reduce the effectiveness of the haptic response of the watch. I understand that people used to carry their pagers down below to get some ... "satisfaction" ;-) ... but the multiple haptic elements and their programmed use is designed to be used on the wrist.

How about just realizing that the design is going to be ugly to most people. Having big black wasted space in the corners just to shoehorn a square interface into a round geometry? Not something that I would find particularly efficient or attractive.
