Wow, your ignorance is only exceeded by your arrogance! MacBidouille nailed it and to claim coincidence is... well, I go back to my opening statement. Lionel, at MacBidouille, presented this info first, stuck by it despite comments from ignorant people like....... YOU!!! and he was right!!

What are you going to say when the G5s ship? "I must be seeing things," might be a good start, then hit yourself on the head and do us all a favour!

    Moki? Ignorant?

'...presented this info first...' Shit, boy - moki's been telling us about GP-UL for, what, a year now? First I heard of it anywhere. While he's never, ever **CONFIRMED** anything, AFAIK, he's not stated a single thing as fact that was incorrect.

His credibility on this board is unparallelled.

If you have noticed, all the rumors on ThinkSecret that are real have been pulled due to Apple legal. This story on the other hand has not been pulled.

They can't prevent coverage of anything. They can try and force copyrighted and other material from being shown, but simply telling a story about it goes to a free press.

I don't think Apple legal tried strong arming anyone to remove the pics, since they were pics put up by Apple themselves. MacBidouille said that they were offered money or a discount at the Apple store if they pulled the info. I think this is the course Apple had gone with. Maybe Thinksecret decided that continuing to show the pics and info would generate enough traffic to get add revenue in excess of the $300 or so that Apple was offering...If it was me, I would hold out for an offer of free almost free G5 etc.

This 4 OS X Forum post claims developers have the dual 2.0 boxen.

"This is confirmed: developers own and have been using G5 machines for a short while now. Reports are that some developer machines are dual 2.0 GHz machines, with the EXACT SAME SPECS as those leaked on Apple's site a day ago.

More info on this as it comes in. "

Oh, yeah, and the guy from macmice.com is sooooooo credible.

Nothing against you of course, Ensign, but I just wanted to point out that you should be wary about everything you read, especially since this guy didn't reveal one detail whatsoever about the case, making him sure to stay credible even when the PMG5s are revealed.

Not saying it's true, just that it's been claimed.

Well, it would only make sense that devs and beta testers have been using the machines, with their release date seemingly so close.

Anyone can now post and claim to have used them and guess what, they could even post specs pretty damn close to what has been released...probably even claim the exact specs.

Now, if they'd posted those exact specs 3 weeks ago, or had difinitive proof about the casing, that would be impressive.

Oh heck maybe its a little of both. My brain is going numb!

Two days and a wake up, and then it should all be clearer.

The only thing I know for certain, is that I will replace my PPC 800 single with something this year. I just don't know what that something is going to be. Soon, very soon.....

Whatever the specs say, lets hope these beasts perform in real world tests. It would be a great thing to see the Mac platform finally regain some of its elegant glory from the early years.

I, as most of us, have been waiting for a shift in computer market that could signal a weakening in the Microsoft strangle hold. I was hoping the US federal case against M$ would do it for us, but alas, Bush killed any hope of that. I also thought linux could blindside M$, its been successful in the public sector (universities & governments), but isn't really consumer-friendly (yet?).

Both of the above however; the anti-monopoly sentiment and Linux/Unix revolt, create an environment ripe for an Apple/IBM resurgence. I think it is just so...fitting, that the two major OS players that were taken out by M$ in the early 90's would join together to take on the W'Intel world.

Congratulations to IBM for putting together what seems to be a bomber processor and solid road map for development. And congratulations to Apple for steering a course over the last 5 years that has positioned Apple to stay in the game, and perhaps stave off the stifling oppression of an M$ dictated computing world.

well.....so much for my philosophical rant..

    WOOOOHOOO!!

I'm buying the top machine as soon as its available. My wife gave me the go ahead last night. She laughed her arse off with me as we scrolled through this thread. She's so cool...and I'm so lucky...she knows I'm a geek and she loves me for it.

    Going back to silence...

    Thanks!

Apology accepted. BTW, I eat tacos about 4 times a week. They're mighty tasty. You don't know what your missing. No hard feelings.

I believe he means why, as in Why should anybody be disappointed?...
