To the best of my knowledge, Apple has not done a preview of one version of OS X while there was a part of the site dedicated to a different version. Not prior to this year's WWDC anyway.
1) I think this was asked before but I didn't see any answer. Are the bugs associated with Mail attachements fixed?
2) How does fast user switching work when Classic is running, especially if multi-users are set up in OS 9? Does switching the X user switch the 9 user, too? Or does Classic not even run in multi-user mode?
Sorry, let me clarify - should have been more clear.
When I tried to use it, I wanted to add my fonts to font book. I have about 1,500 fonts. I added them. It ground to a halt. After about 30 minutes it stopped. I then checked the hard drive/library/font folder and all my fonts had been added in their. My system then proceeded to run extremely slowly until I deleted them.
Now, currently in Suitcase, i have my fonts where ever I want them. When I add them to suitcase all it does is add references to those fonts in a database. This takes 5 minutes tops. And it doesn't slow my computer do when all the fonts are added.

Ah, a scaling issue, not a location issue.
You weren't by any chance running Word, were you? I know that it historically has had mucho problems with many fonts... and it's an oddball. A well-written app shouldn't care how many fonts are in that folder, it should handle it gracefully.

Unfortunately i was just running the finder (though i appreciate its only a beta etc).
The problem appeared to be (and I will crawl back under my stone if I have missed an option to alter this) that in font book when you add fonts it automatically turns them all on, which had the effect of s-l-o-w-i-n-g everything right down to a crawl if you have 1,500 plus the system fonts that are already in there. So had the system been responsive enough, I would have had to disable all the ones I didn't need.
Yes you could just add them when you needed them, but then you don't get to preview them unless they are added to font book.
It seemed odd that it uses locations to work out how it groups the fonts and which are on etc, rather than using a database as suitcase (and atm) did before it.
And its not like I am an exception. There will be a lot of designers out there that manage that many fonts (and some more)

Nr 1 - Do not know
Nr 2 - Multiple user is not supported when turned on in Mac OS 9. When you try to start Classic it gives an error message (can´t remeber what is was thou) and you have to restart in Mac OS 9 and turn Multiple users off.
And its not like I am an exception. There will be a lot of designers out there that manage that many fonts (and some more)
i'm with you!
i have my fonts in their own folder (about 5000 fonts at the last count). i don't want them moved because i like them where they are (and if suitcase can manage it then i'm sure fontbook should be able to)
When making time-constrained design decisions, how DOES one sift through 5,000 fonts to find the best answer? 500 I can see, if categorized properly but... 5000? When designers make these claims - not that I don't believe you - it just seems kind of ridiculous. Extravagant even.
Nothing personal, I just don't get why that many fonts are required on a regular basis.
I can imagine needing that many, bacause a unique font can make a project shine. (But then again, if I were a designeer, I'd probably want to make my own) I mean, look at that Extensis ad in the last Macworld, the ad with all of the X's in different fonts. If I did layout, I'd want every one of those fonts.
As for organising them...can you set up folders of any kind, so when you bring up the pull-down font menu in Word, you can put your cursor over a folder and have a list of fonts?
Here is a list of bugs and just stupid stuff I found in Panther 7B53 that I think should be fixed before release. Sorry if they are note all new features added in this build.
I would like to keep updating this list with every build we get... Hopefully by the time 10.3 GM arrives we will not need this list at all.
----------
- Finder Preferences window does not remember where you last had it.
- One of the largest bugs now that *bug* me ;p, is Apple had changed Sheets now, and the Finder sheets(Like when you want to customize the Toolbar, or use "Go to Folder...")go straight up and do NOT match the other ones. Also, they must fix what it look like when the Sheets fly out...
Also the sheets come out of the wrong place. They should fly out from under the top "bar".
- In the Dock, when a Application is already hidden and you control click on an Application in the Dock, the menu still says "Hide" when it should say "Show", even though you just have to click the icon to show. Oh well, BUT, should be fixed!
- In the Finder Prefrences you can turn off all of the HDs, CDs, Network, and stuff. But then in the Finder Sidebar, all you get is a line. Shouldn't this line disappear if nothing is above it?
- This is my biggest fear. Some apps are fixed now, abut others are not...weird. BUT, in save panels for applications if you have an Application(such as Mail) in it, you can save into Mail. But it is in the package Contents. This will really scare people who are new users...or even me when i can't find my stuff if I click the wrong button! Yikes!!!!!!!!
- Some Utilities(Like Directory Services, NetInfo Manager, ODBC Administrator) and apps still have the old unlock and lock icons. Should be replaced to match the new ones.

Well, I hope you are submitting these to Apple because we can't do a damn thing about them.

Hey, I posted these bugs for you. I have no idea if they'll listen to me, but hey, I guess it's worth a shot.
I know that scheduling wake from sleep is possible in the Energy Saver Preferences, but does Panther allow developers to have their applications wake up the computer? This is a truly needed feature, especially for things like Audio Hijack.

They did the same thing with Jaguar last year!

Does it still add all fonts to the library/fonts folder (which is ridiculous if you have well over 1,000)

Why is that ridiculous?
Where else would you have it place them?

AWSOME! thank you sooo much! Did you manage to get the new "command + tab" one I mentioned a post above? Not really a bug but an annoyance.
Thanks man!!!
