Apple will not want to release a product on the day the US goes to war. They will recieve zero publicity.

Oh, right, it's this whole Tuesday conspiracy, the US war machine is in on it too? Steve Jobs is actually going to tell Bush to hold off a couple of days so he can get a announcement out - and ship a few hundred products out to Q8 so that the military can field test them.
What they don't know is that the processors were made in North Korea, and are primed to blow on Saddam?s command.

Well, the Tuesdays have been coming reliably every week for the past two months (and centuries before that). But the new iPods are still MIA. My only hope is that the special promotion's end signals the imminent announcement of new iPods.
I have no doubt that Apple could make a big enough impact announcing new iPods tomorrow. After all, even if Bush-hole tells the nation tonight that the US will now invade Irak, I doubt it will happen tomorrow. The window for diplomacy may have closed, but the pre-war window is still open! So Apple should introduce new iPods tomorrow. For many of us, new iPods would be a very welcome distraction from very unpleasant world news.
I agree, tomorrow they will come. CNN reports that Bush is going to give Saddam a 72 hour window to leave Iraq. That pushes invasion back to Thursday, opening an opportunity to introduce the iPod tomorrow.
Only a few more short minutes of hoping, and then we'll know.

Store is back up - I can't see any changes.
Whenever they make "real" changes (new products), it usually is at 9:00 AM PT (noon ET, 5 PM GMT). Since this was about 5 AM PT, it was not likely to be anything new.
Damn... my poor snow iMac is now out of date... oh well...
How do you think that makes my Rev.A iMac feel? I bought it August 15, 1998, and its 5-year anniversary is coming up fast. As the Mac Specialist said when I was shooting the breeze at my local Apple Store Friday night, "That's 35 dog-years!"
Once Apple finally gets its act together and announces the new iPods, and I get one, I will finally have to replace the Rev.A iMac to enter the age of FireWire. (Of course, my iBook has FW as well, but its HDD is too small for serious MP3 storage.)

It's still available through the education channel. I'm not sure what's up with it. Seems like they did this before.
