so there is new iPod software on apple's sites... 1.2.6
It says it addresses power issues... Just thought i'd let the masses knows.
yes, what this means in terms of when an update to the iPod is announced I just don't know. Some might be inclined to think that it indicates iPods are less likely to be released shortly but if there are big changes to the upcoming iPods then there may have to be two different software packages for iPods: 1 for the earlier versions and 1 for the later/upcoming ones. Who knows, but this endless waiting and speculating is driving me nuts and yet it is a momentary, enjoyable distraction from the sad state of world politics.

C'mon Apple, lighten my day!
OR it might mean that they are waiting to release the new ones, and wanted to get this update out because there were getting a lot of calls about "my battery is not working!!!!" instaed of waiting more and listening to these support calls
Yeah I've been waiting for this new ipod. Amazingly, the 20gig version is too small for my tastes - I would love to have the 40 gig version. I REALLY wish Apple or someone else would include the ability to record into the ipod. That would make it absolutely killer in my opinion. Not to mention the size. And hell, the internals probably needed to throw in an FM tuner or so small I imagine, throw that in as well. It just seems to me that if they aren't going to really change the ipod in some major way, the least they can do is slap on extra features besides the traditional adding more space kinda way.....
I'll get one with my tax refund. Probably not the 40gb version, more than likely the middle-of-the-road one, if it has good features (I don't need massive space, I only have a little over 5GB of mp3s right now). And I'll either get it at the Apple Store for Education, or buy it at CompUSA and get one of those nifty warranties so I can get it replaced when stuff happens, depending on the cost..

You can do both. Get it at the Apple Store, walk over to compusa with your receipt and get the warranty. $39. That's what I did. Now I'm just waiting for new iPods to come out. Then something may mysteriously happen to my iPod.

Wow, you too?
How many of you are going to buy an iPod as soon as they get updated?

I WILL GET ONE WITHIN MINUTES.
So, does that mean that they will be available within a couple of days to ship?

Will there be new iPods announced during the war or is this definitely going to be a post-war release?
