I ma worried but what yo say comforts me. I talked to the apple phone support guy about when my imac would ship and he said "early next week." Which would indicate Yesterday or today the 12th. I didnt ship either!

it's the year of the horse, so maybe they're celebrating by shipping your imac via pony express?
I got bad new for all of us waiting for our imacs to ship. Just called the Apple Store (i've been making a habit to call everyday), and anyway they said that no imacs will be shipping this week due to the chinese new year. That kinda sucks, but hopefully they didn't stop building them this week. Anyway, sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
I ordered my iMac (800Mhz) Feruary 4th from the Apple Store (I live in Finland) and today they told me that production will take 40 work days and shipping 4-5 days.
Well, all new problems today. I checked my order status this morning and my imac had switched from being assembled (where it had been for three weeks) to
Being Reviewed.
Oh well, I guess I'll call the Apple Store and find out the problem. At least its making my wait time interesting.
I am not kidding, but we have to notice that production times are different in different countries. So propably you (bauman) dont have to wait as long as I have to.
Well, ordered mine on 1/11 from macmall, and it _still_ hasn't cleared backorder. They sent me a "the item you ordered will be delivered within 30 days" letter, and so I called my sales rep. He said it would be in somewhen in the middle of the month of February. Today is the middle of the month, and I checked the stats today and found no change. Perhaps next week... sigh.
Well, my 1/15 order will be 5 weeks on Tuesday, which was the longest they specified when I ordered. Still no sign of it shipping in my mailbox... At least I have my TiBook to keep me company, but damn, I'm getting sick of waiting...
At least I'm going to Vegas this weekend. That will take my mind off of it.
My brother works for Apple and he talked to someone and they told him an unprecedented number have been ordered. 75,000 have been shipped and 250,000 are waiting to be filled.
I ordered on the 7th and still havent gotten mine! I talked to apple phone support and they told me it would ship next tuesday the 19th.
I ordered mine from MacMall on January 8th and it's still not in. They've told me it would be in by the 31, and yesterday, and now they say this week. But I read a message on MacAddict who also brought from MacMall and they told him they have a month long backlog.
My brother received his iMac G4 Superdrive on Monday. What an amazing computer! The display is incredibly sharp and bright, and the iMac looks so much better than the one displayed at our local CompUSA, which was almost beige. It sure seems fast, and OSX absolutely flies! Too bad he only has dial-up internet, and a poxy, free digital camera that doesn't seem to work with the new iMac - his wife wants to keep the 4 year old PC set up so she can use the camera, and keep the iMac in its box in the basement. Go figure. I think they're just feeling weird and in shock for having such a nice computer, and they'll get over it.

I ordered mine on the 7th about 1 hour after Stevenote and I finally got mine on the 13th. For some reason, mine didn't go through Alaska like everybody else's (it went through Rancho something or other CA).
Anyway, the point is, IT IS SO WORTH the long wait. Way better than the 3 month wait I had to endure for my PowerBook G3 (250 w/ DVD-ROM) way back in '98.
I think I'm going to watch the "Spinal Tap" DVD on it tonight.
Just wanted to mention that if any of you are in the NY area Palisades has some. I'm there now and someone is currently buying it. Just figured I'd mention it.
I hope it ships on the 19th like I was told. I am sure it will be worth the wait, this was my christmas present! After all Christmas was the 25th this year, right?
I am starting to get excited but it seems so unreal at this point because of the long wait. No store where I live has any and I havent seen it on TV. I wouldnt even know the iMac existed if it wasnt for the internet and Time magazine. Ok, maybe I would know. You know what I mean...I think.
The day has arrived!! For some reason I decided to check my imac order status today and was amazed to find that my imac has finally shipped. I couldn't hardly believed it when I first saw it. Anyway, I don't understand why you haven't gotten yours yet Macintosh. We both ordered from the Education store and I ordered mine about 6 days after you. I'd hate to think that this would make it take longer but I'm really think that it may be you Applecare Plan. Crazy Stuff. Anyway, hope you get your soon and I'll post updates when my imac arrives.
