He measures from when he presses the power button to when the icons, the dock, and the menu bar are all visible on his desktop. Mine takes longer, but I'm not complaining. heres a weird quirk I noticed after installing the update, I have Safari and iCal set to launch when I start up/ log in and they used to stay up in the screen when launched ie the interface of the app, now iCal launches stays up for split sec and the window disappears and the safari window never comes up but they are running of course, just there respective windows are not up like they used to. any suggestions?
Try going to System Preferences > Accounts > (your account name) > Login Items and check to see if any of your Login Items have the "Hide" box checked. If so, they'll hide upon startup. If that's not it, I don't know what.

From the RAM check screen to the login pane. After timing it it's actually around 14 seconds. But that's still bloody fast for starting up a computer..

But I believe panther loads a partial image of what's supposed to be in RAM when it starts up now, so if you an imagine a lot less processing is, if this is true, required now to start up the COMPY.
After the update some of the windows-users who got mail with attachments from me complain that in addition to the actual attachment there has been another attachment that doesn't open. I wonder if any of you have got similar complaints?

I had something similar under Jaguar. The windows user who received such e-mails, thought there was some virus therein.
Anyway, let me tell two words about my Panther and, in particular, 10.3.3 experience. I am under 10.3.3 for a week now and with the exception of some initial peculiar OS behaviour, I must say I am more than satisfied.
Let me explain. After a clean Panther installation (I erased completely my existing Jaguar installation), creation of users and transfer of backed up files, I noticed that one user was unable to logout and the cmd-option-esc command to force quit an application would not work. I forced logout, nothing. The other users (thanks Fast User Switch!), could logout normally. Very strange. The other day, just after waking the computer (Powerbook 12" 867 MHz), while being on the unable-to-logout user, the machine panicked! Here is the panic log:

It is obvious that there is nothing hardware related, only some "system call" and, perhaps bad, "data access" that are the cause. After that, I deleted the problematic (and non-admin) user and created a new one in its place with another name. Until now, I had no similar problem. I can only suspect the fact that the (problematic and non-admin) user name under Panther, coincides with an admin user name I had under Jaguar. Normally, the previous installation has nothing to do with the new one since the hard drive has been erased, but who knows what messed things up that much .
Other than that, I am a happy Panther user. Most of the issues I had under 10.2.8 (audio skip, PMU not reset correctly at startup, sometimes problematic DVD playback without restarting first) have been addressed. Furthermore, I think that Panther has noticeably more advanced multitasking than Jaguar. I mean, it is the same thing, but it works better in Panther, as long as memory is available and the disk is not hammered. I had the other day a heavy (100%) CPU load compiling stuff with fink, and switching to another user let me play a DVD without skipping a frame (nor sound of course). Very nice! Oh, and the whole system is noticeably more responsive too. This is not the effect of the newly-installed-newly-started-up system, as I find that Safari is no faster than Safari under Jaguar (which may be a little faster actually). And what's up with Safari eating up more than 80% CPU when writing in forms like the ones of this forum?
The fan now: it starts working at 51-52 C / 124-125 F, and it stops only when the CPU temperature falls at 47 C / 116 F. This keeps the machine cool and I have not seen until now temperatures above 58-59 C / 136-138 F, after very intensive usage (playing for example demanding games). Under Jaguar, the fan was activated around 62 C / 144 F, so it happened to me using the powerbook fanless with 61 C / 142 F when there was significant load. This was good and bad: good since you have no noise, but for me more bad as I had concerns about heat damaging something.
Since I installed 10.3.3 I can't read I DVD of mp3's I made in iTunes. I'm not sure in the DVD was made under 10.3.2 or 10.3.3 but my friends XP machine reads it fine. I need to make sure I can read this cause I'm about to re-install Panther just to start of clean. And does anyone know how long I'll take to re-install Panther. Help would be appreciated

All my applications became non responding, logout not working, forced logout not working, launch new applications not working, only X11. And there, I saw in the terminal that syslogd and automount (running as root) had gone berserk (running non stop at about 45% CPU each). Anyone knows why or what this could mean?
Users-unable-to-logout strikes again! It happened again today, and this time, the system did not let me to switch user.
It looks like lockups in Panther are a rather common issue, but hard to reproduce (it happens randomly, or so it seems). Let's see when will be the next \ .

Before that I don't think had a kernel panic since 10.1. Panther must not like me. Either that or the G5.

1, Battary Capacity seems to be lower than former release of updates.
2, the network opening method quite new, but not good compare to the original
3, the fan is still running too often, but I am the one who don't care temperature, but the silence.
Anyway, i still recommend you guys refresh your update list, then make yours 10.3.3, this one is much better than annoyed 10.3.2.
till now, that's what i am thinking about 10.3.3.
