My second favorite team, Tampa, rolled over the Falcons which was quite unexpected and it looks like the Bears are going to beat the Vikings (always happy to see them lose!).

    Good games today so far.

    NFL Sunday Ticket rules!

well, hated to see gramatica go, but man, he was having the worst possible year for a kicker. lose to a division rival by seven points and not get three field goals? how 'bout not make a field goal longer than 22 yards (the absolute minimum) since early october? sorry, martin.

meanwhile, tampa is doing what good teams do... never get blown out, at least split your games with division foes, and beat the worst teams easily. i could see tampa going 8-8 or even 9-7, if griese stays healthy. he has picked up gruden's offense in a way johnson never did... and in a stupidly short amount of time.

Nice to see the Redskins hanging with the Eagles tonight.

    First half was good.

Used to truly hate the Steelers (lifelong Cowboys fan here. The Immaculate Reception is still burned into my brain), but I really like them this season.

A very exciting team to watch.

The Bettis TD throw was awesome.

I swear I'm about to cry.

Patrick Fucking Ramsey, get your head out of your ass. Aside from the stupid fouls (false starts, delay of game, personal fouls), and the bone-brain play selection WHEN YOU'RE IN THE RED ZONE AND CAN AT LEAST TIE THE GAME IF YOU DON'T TURN THE BALL OVER, I'd say the skins outplayed the eagles.

But, all is not lost. Patrck Ramsey is a decent quarterback. He's too stupid to ever be great, but he might prove to be good enough. I'd say the Skins have done a decent job at developing a process with Gibbs and his personnel, and next season might turn out to be a winning one.

Yes, I grew up in DC.

I grew up in Virginia Beach, so I was surrounded by 'Skins fans all my life.

One glaring error that I noticed about Ramsey tonight - HE NEVER CHECKS DOWN!

He stares at his primary receiver during the whole route!

He never swivels, he never fakes somewhere else...

He basically telegraphs where he's going to throw every single time - especially when it's crucial. No flexibility.

It's too bad, they really could've won tonight.

... and the Pats took the AFC East. The Steelers totally shut down the Pats when they played last month. I can't wait for the Pats Steelers AFC Championship game. The Pats are my team, but the Steelers look unstoppable!

Anyone really tired of the media story of how the AFC is the all powerful conference while the NFC is a reject conference who doesn't deserve a playoff spot save one?

Does this mean a NFC wild-card team will win the Superbowl?

Texans v Colts: Once again the Texas offense is schizoid. Defense was excellent, but offense had split personality. They can't manufacture the winning drive often enough or at all nowadays.

I'm old enough to remember when the NFC was an 800 lb. gorilla and the AFC was a bunch of patsy-boys. Broncos? Bills? Don't make me laugh! So now it's the AFC's turn to rub it in a little. So much for all the parity talk though.

I remember too. It's all part of a complex draft and player age cycle.

However, it doesn't mean that a NFC team won't win the Superbowl. I'd love to see a NFC wild card team win it just to spite the pundits.

I'd love to see the Steelers play the Packers in the Superbowl . . . . that would be funny

But even better would be NE vs the Cardinals . . . and losing!!

    . . . I'd love it . .

actually, I'd love NE losing, but it would be a boring game if they didn't . . .

If NE loses, it'll be in the playoffs, not the SuperBowl.

oh, for f*ck's sake... how do my bucs get seven sacks and a 100+ yard rusher in a game AND STILL NOT WIN?!?!?!? well, maybe the tampa bay area can finally, once and for all, give up on these stupid dreams of somehow sneaking into the playoffs after this... this... whatever this was. i had high hopes after the bucs marched down the field in their first drive, but then, sputter, clunk, whir, dead.

a few notes to jon gruden:

michael pittman is not your running back for the future. give it up already.

learn when you've made a mistake. not benching gramatica earlier in the year was one of them.

for god's sake, spend all of your draft picks on offensive lineman next year. except one... we'll need a new corner to replace dwight smith when he bolts for free agency.

stop signing sentimental old players unless you plan to use them often. i am looking in the general direction of tim brown right now.

i hate to say it, but i kinda miss warren sapp right now. at least he got the defense fired up at critical moments. they have seemed flat all year. then again, warren was part of that monday night debacle last year against the colts, so...

so it boils down to the bucs have an okay passing game, but no running game, so every defense knows to key on the receivers because griese won't run downfield. their pass defense is okay, but run defense is bloody awful. they need a plug in the middle. a ted "mount" washington-type. and really, glazer family, spend some money on a special teams coach.

one wonders how we ever won a friggin' super bowl two years ago.

Was that the clothesline hit that got Darius(#20) ejected? Whooohooohoo that was ugly. Never seen anyone get their head taken off like that before.

At least Ferguson was still able to move his arms. That means he can probably move his legs too (since the hit was at the neck). When I saw his legs start spasming I figured some kind of spinal injury had occurred.

Texans v Bears: Texans played a good games. Great on defense. A little better than average on offense. Bears suck and need a better offense. Bears offense couldn't execute when they needed to with dropped passes and poor throws.

Anyone see the Vikings v Lions game? How'd the Vikes play, other than getting lucky.

I only saw the last 2 minutes of this game, not being in the target market. The only thing lucky was the game didn't go into OT. If the extra point was good, who knows what would've happened. They were evenly matched, and Detroit pulled quite the drive to get the TD.

    [edit]

Duh, it was a bad snap, not a bad kick.
