    Yeah.... I got AppleCare now, so if my iBook breaks, I don't really care. They can just send me a nice, brand new replacement.

    Its still under the one year warranty, but I don't have applecare. Does anyone know if I have to pay anything if its still under this one year warranty?

    No, you don't have to pay anything: take it into an Apple Authorised Repair Centre (including Apple Stores) and demonstrate the fault.
